Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #154: Olympics

Last weekend both the boys were in a parade. Apparently there was somebody who just happened to be on vacation and was attending the parade and saw little g. This person noticed that little g was wearing braces and noticed that his bicycle wasn't "normal" looking and noticed his constant smile and look of determination. Well, this person did some research and earlier this week I received a phone call from this person. This person works for a national publication and would like to meet us and is interested in publishing a story about little g.

Not sure if we are going to go through with it. IMHO there are pros and cons. Just not sure if the pros outweigh the cons at this point.

Seems like the pro and con are the same thing. Attention.

Attention probably leads to help both financial and otherwise. Not just for little g, but for any kid with similar issues. But it also means you have to deal with the other kinds of attention that media coverage can bring.

Winner winner chicken dinner.

Well my take is, if you already are capable of giving little g everything he needs going forward, there really isn't a need to do it. But, if there are things you can't do, that this might make possible for him then i'd seriously consider it.

The second reason to do it would be if you really want to champion a cause. Then you are doing it for everyone, getting the word out and raising awareness.

My opinion is of course just that. You know far more than me about the situation. :)

Just be a media whore and diva already!

Tough decision.....I can see why you're hesitant.

Not really. He's just an old drunk these days. He had a few good songs, but I was never a huge Randy Travis fan.

I think my bathroom is finally 100% done. Showered in the new shower for the first time tonight.

Get the tennis racket and go to war.

And no, if you hit them with a tennis racket, you don't core them like an apple. I speak from experience. That would make an unholy mess.

you must swing like a girl!! :D

Nope, truth. A resort I went to often as a child always relied on tennis rackets for killing the inevitable bat that would enter the main lodge. I was surprised, too.

They make one helluva mess when they splat against the wall two rooms over.

Never saw that, and in hindsight I thank Parise. The managers of the resort usually just kinda stunned them when they hit the bats. Just enough to throw them outside.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #154: Olympics

I grew up in a farmhouse built in 1918. We had bats from time to time. I John McEnroe'd 2 of them in the living room. One went ka-splat on the dining room wall, and the other just, kinda, ended. Scooped him up, spatula-style, and over the road outside he went.

I wish I was a bit older when my family went to the resort. Bats are pretty friggin' cool, and I think I would have appreciated seeing one up close (even though if it was unconscious) more than I did then.

When one of them buzzes across your chest at 3 AM and wakes you up because you thought you felt a breeze, it gets your attention in a hurry.
