Right about now jr is taking his test for a learner's permit. Watch out MN drivers and pedestrians!

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #154: Olympics

It went well. And quick. She didn't even really read my performance review document. I don't know why I was so worried about it. The company had a major re-org, or maybe it was a realignment, a couple of weeks ago. We're still waiting for some announcements in the business unit I support. We may lose some of that business. My boss is a bit anxious, and I am as well, but there's really nothing I can do about for a while. It will affect several people I'm friends with and work closely with so I'm more anxious for them. It's going to be an interesting couple of months.

So, last night was Thursday and I went out with a couple of my friends, saw hottie bartender, had a martini. My friends had wine. We split a coupe of orders of mac n cheese. It was yummy. Right after one of my friends and I got there, this other guy that works at my company showed up and sat at the other end of the bar. I've seen him there before and the three of us all know him. Another guy joined him and they sat at one of the tables by the bar. There's always people from the company there. We try to never acknowledge them, especially when it's the really major senior management folks. Anyway....after we had finished eating hottie bartender came over to tell us that the guy we know took care of our drinks and food. We were like "Wha???" Cool. I guess. He never spoke or said anything, etc. One of my friends was really freaked by it. She works with him more than the me and my other friend. She thought it was inappropriate. I was like "Eh, it's not like he sat next to us, talked to us, like he was trying to pick us up or anything." He and the other guy got up to leave and we all waved and said thanks and he nodded and left. I did not know he was not married, and he is seeing some other chick here in the company. I'm not going to lose any sleep over it and I was amused by it. It was a cheap night!

The State of MN gave me a drivers licence, it's clear that the standards are quite low (but, not surprisingly, not quite as low as Iowa's non-existent standards)

It's a sad day when Wikipedia is a more reliable source for information used in performing a critical task than the actual organization that sets and executes the standards.

Not really, the difference is that the person who knows what they are doing wrote the Wikipedia entry and the internal document, but the internal document was edited by someone who had no clue about the technical aspects of the document. It's a technical document, the verbiage and structure and terms are the WHOLE purpose of the document, changing that for the sake of the flow and readability of the document destroys any value or use of the document.

I know they have been trying to build their tourism industry. Baku is in the top 10 world "party cities" rating by some group or other. It does look pretty interesting and I wouldn't mind visiting. It's the 22 hour trip there and back that I won't miss.

Always fly west, that way it won't take as much time. :D

Yeah, but you have to go to a special store for beer and yet another for booze. One of my cousins (most of my extended family lives around the Pittsburgh area) married into a family that owned a beer store. I asked why they called liquor stores "beer" stores out there, and was told about the messed up laws.

About as bad as Utah. One time while at a restaurant in Salt Lake City I asked to order a round of adult beverages for our table. The waiter suddently got a deer in the headlights look and had to get his manager. The manager approached and reluctantly took the order. Once the beverages arrived at the table others in the establishment looked at us like we were crazy........

Excellent news outta the ECAC today that the league has a "major announcement" scheduled for Tuesday in Lake Placid. All signs are pointing to the league championships coming back home in 2014 for 3 years. It may not be a Boston or TC type of venue, but I am certainly thrilled to see it. Great rink size for the league, obviously full of history and tradition, and the locals of Lake Placid know how to put on a first-class event where fans will feel like the city isn't too big for the event (Albany/Atlantic City).

Why would they even have booze in the building if they are reluctant to take an order for it? That doesn't even make sense. I don't have a problem with religion, as long as it isn't a violent hate religion, like islam, but if a religion is going to get in between me and a good beverage, that's gonna stick in my craw a little.

Actually jr just took his test now. Waiting for his picture to be taken.

Got the schedule for next tourney and Mavsy's team is in another pool this time.

This I agree with!
