Sounds like the low-flo toilets. Homeowners know they don't work, contractors for sure know they don't work -- but we have a law. (So how does the law save the planet if it takes three flushes?)

Not quite. While the first generation toilets were that way,the mew ones work quite well.

The home I nanny-ed in changed their toilets to a 2-button press. One button for pee, the other for more heavy duty loads. Less water was used for the urine side since you don't need as much force (?).

I never let facts get in the way of my rants. :p

(Actually, I'm glad to hear about the toilets. I only know from when we put an addition on our house, and that was a good while ago.)

Yes! They had those in Asia. I thought, Now there's an actual smart way to do it.

When I got a new ****ter for the bathroom. I made sure to get the highest flow one available.

edit: Some places had the 2 button toilets in Sweden, but I couldn't figure out which button was which. One had the picture of a sun on it, and the other a triangle. No matter which one I pressed, it looked like the same amount of water.

Why stress over it? There's obviously nothing you can do about it...

I know. Not stressing as much as I am bummed and disappointed. We put so much work into this. It's a ginormous event. It will go on rain or shine but who knows how the fireworks will be. And if there is lightning predicted, we might have a full scale evacuation from the Esplanade. That's potentilly 500K people. Every day this week looks to be great except for the 4th. WHY??? ::shakes fist:: It could pour the two days I have off and I wouldn't care. It's the fact that Wednesday is sketchy with regards to weather. There's additional planning that will need to take place, etc. It's just a drag. Oh well. The weather looks great for tonight's show.

Just looking at the map, it sure looks narrow getting onto that river (in Paducah, that is). Maybe it's bigger in person, but I can't imagine driving barges through there.

Pffffft that's nothing. If you want to see fun, go look in Baton Rouge, right below the I 10 bridge, there is a little ditch that starts going NW, then turning south. THAT is narrow ;) They have restrictions on how wide you can be (no more than 70 feet, but some people bring up to 1000 feet long through there)

This one was fairly obvious. 3 little dots for a little water, 9 little dots for more water. Seemed intuitive.

I've never heard sirens at my house. At my parents house, I have, but not since then.

Anoka County doesn't use them often. They are pretty faint if I hear them because they are the ones across the river in Brooklyn Park or Champlin, which is Hennepin County.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #152: Next to get married?

Maybe Andover/Ham Lake just want their citizens to die by not alerting them when severe weather is imminent. :D

Aren't about 90% of the houses on wheels anyway? What good does it do them to go inside? :p

*snarky cake-eater opinion*

No wheeled houses in my neighborhood. In fact, there are some very cake eater-esk houses near mine. http://www.edinarealty.com/homes-for-sale/MN/Andover/55304/165-170th-Avenue-NW-65580461/popup

And those that have been to my place have seen another massive house that you'd drive by about 2 blocks from mine. My house, unfortunately, is not this nice. :p

And your neighbors still sit out at the end of their driveways, shirts off, bellies hanging over their shorts, drinking Old Style and watching the cars go by. :p

Afternoon, Lodge. Agreed, it's not as terrible today.

It's Minnesota, not Saginaw County.

Remember, he's an engineer. Obvious to them is not the same as obvious to us common folk! :P

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #152: Next to get married?

My brother lives about 20 miles north of Bemidji and had a nasty storm fly through earlier this evening. Trees down and some damage to his property.

My sister was at the lakefront in Bemidji volunteering to help set up stuff for the carnival for fourth of July stuff. Sounds like many people took refuge under the beer tent which collapsed.

Sorry to change topics, but do they still do the carnival with all the rides at the lakefront in Bemidji? Or is it just beer tent and bingo now? Its been a while since I've been up there for the 4th and all the kiddie rides and mini-golf are long gone. Grew up on that lake so I miss it sometimes.

Time to fire up the grill! And, just maybe, have a cold beverage while it gets up to speed.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #152: Next to get married?

Just looked out behind our barn today to realize that there was two pretty big trees blown over in the fence roll. Thankfully, they went away from the pasture fence that was next to it, and landed in the woodsy patch of the neighbors. Not really sure who would technically own that, but eh, anyways, I don't have to worry about cleaning it up anyways. I kind of think it happened Sunday when it got pretty windy and gusty around here for a bit. From the looks of it, there was an old woodchuck burrow underneath the trees, and with the wind hitting it just right, uprooted them both. Further evidence to the fact that all Woodchucks should be shot on sight.
