Yeah, it was friggin' hot. From what I've seen, Wed is the "coolest" of the days, and Thu the hottest (real temp 100+).

And (my work's) customers! Take the week off! Go to your cabins! JFC.

I think I drank my weight in water today.

I arrived at the office around 7 this morning and left just before 5. Walked outside and was very thankful that I have an office job.

Tomorrow is my Friday and 7/19 will be my Monday.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #152: Next to get married?

Highs through Thursday will be in the mid to upper 90s. If anyone can really tell the difference between any of the days, I'd be amazed.

Plus it's still around 80 degrees at sunrise.

Friday should be slightly cooler (low 90s) with the weekend looking downright nice compared to what we've seen (80s).

BTW, the official high today going by the hourly observations at the airport was 99F.

It's going to be 95-98 the rest of the week here, too. It was 97 here today, and it's still hot and muggy as hell right now, at 11 PM. They say it's 83 out right now. Bull****.

It's kinda nice out right now. 85 out, feels like 94, but there is a light breeze. I dare say it's comfortable (relatively).

You guys are getting our sloppy seconds. Fun, ain't it?

When they get their asses blown to Kansas to see the wizard, they'll get quite an education about those sirens, and just how much of a nuisance those winds were.

For the record, I still mistake the "air raid siren" sound for Tornados in Chicagoland for the UP's use of curfew and volunteer fire department alert.

Evening lodge. Bringing my car to the insurance company tomorrow since it got hit with a tree branch during the destructive wind/rain storm yesterday.

Nothing too serious. A half dozen dents and some big scrapes where the branch fell.

...curfew? Does Marquette do that to prevent the crabs from rioting after hours?

Full moon and just a beautiful night on the Tennessee River. Easily my favorite waterway, haven't been up here since Thanksgiving. Man, I love my job on nights like this.

it's called SUMMER :D hello!!

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #152: Next to get married?

Good Morning Lodge.

it's called SUMMER :D hello!!

Yeah, except with the coincident dewpoints we are seeing, the load on our AC systems is conservatively 40% over design conditions for the outside air component, therefore about 25% over total design capacity. And by the way, under law we are limited to using historic design conditions for our designs, even though we know they are no longer valid. The component that is way over our historic design condition is the dewpoint, or wet bulb, temperature, i.e. the humidity component which is the single largest component. So our clients are calling us, the contractors, and the equipment vendors to complain that the systems don't work.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #152: Next to get married?

Given the forecast and the fact that I will be cooking for 8 tomorrow, I have decided to NOT slave over a hot grill and instead will put a pork shoulder and a chicken or two in the smoker in the morning. Won't be the traditional burgers and brats for the 4th, but it should still be good. I found a new, simple, homemade BBQ sauce I want to try too, might make that up tonight. May still have to fire up the grill for a little while to throw some veggies and sweet corn on it though...

Good Morning Lodge.

I decided to take yesterday off of work, so today is the only day I'm working this week. I'll get some stuff done today, and then we're heading to my aunt's cabin tonight and staying there over the 4th, probably coming home on Thursday. It should be a good time, with the group of people that will be there.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #152: Next to get married?

Being outside and ignoring the sirens is even dumber than being inside and relying on the sirens as your warning that bad weather is approaching.

I like to think of this as Darwinism. It's a shame more people that do that are not killed for their stupidity. We need to take them out of the gene pool.

You mean like Hoven? :p
