Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 146: Playoff Hockey Activities

Well, actually, he kinda did witness history. :)
Early disappointment is a good teaching tool. Even with the two titles in the 2000s, I still remember the pain of the '89 loss to Harvard (sucks). Having to wait 13 years for another title shot was torture.
Bakunin - probably kicking themselves on the concourse.
I would pay for a framed photo of their facial expressions when the place erupted for the tying goal. :D

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 146: Playoff Hockey Activities

You could probably hand them out to random UND fans on Saturday, although they might get a little overheated pulling them atop their Holy Cross shirts.

Let's just say the hatred would be palpable. Sitting in a section filled with UND fans in Denver's '07 regional was my own personal hell. I honestly don't know if it gets worse than seeing your team lose in OT with the GWG happening right in front of you, all while you are surrounded by opposition fans. I suppose Maine fans who were at the title game in '02 could comment on this, but screw them - MN was long overdue for a title that year. :p

Karma for shushing the crowd and then trying to take out Kowalska's knee. :p

Watching the stream of the Gophers-BADgers in women's final, 3-2 Gophs after 1. :)

Thinking about going up to watch the State Jr Gold A title game. One of jr's coaches is an assistant on this team too. Jr. Gold is for high school age (Midget) players who did not make varsity. In the case of the Edina team, a number of the players were on varsity or jv last season but got cut when the coaches went young this season. At the Plymouth arena at 4:30. Waiting to see if Mrs and Jr get home in time for us to head up there.

it is like 90 degrees here... went up the club to golf after getting my plane tickets to msp as we opened the course yesterday. stopped after 9 because i was tired of carrying my clubs (fat, drunk, and stupid is no way to go through life son). but did play the last five holes 2 under, so i was happy.

will interlachen be open this coming weekend??!?! i may be in town ;)

I have been training since birth with the Red Sox. We have never won a hockey title in DI and the horrible irony is when we were DII and won I was under the stands manning the keg at the bar and never even knew who won. (or cared :o)

It very well may be open. The weather has been gorgeous, and most courses have been open for about a week already.

There will certainly be courses open but I doubt Interlachen will. I expect a high end Club like that to be very careful with their turf and the ground is still a little cool for allowing all that traffic.

By the way, the Gopher Women just beat the stinkin' BADgers for the NCAA title, 4-2. :D

The times aren't wrong.

Walrus - it's not a penalty if it isn't called. ;)
(I seem to recall a phantom trip called on MN in the regional against Maine the year before, which gave them the power play late, which led to the tying goal, which eventually led to Maine winning in OT on a brutal play by Hauser, so it all evens out in the end... I guess).

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 146: Playoff Hockey Activities

I've been on youtube watching concert videos and starting watching a bunch of Johnny Holm videos (mostly the Jordan ones). There are bunch of them on youtube:

Poker Face
Hot and Cold
Don't Stop Believing(possibly the best cover I've seen of this one)
Billie Jean (a drunk guy from the crowd gets on stage and does the moonwalk)
Play That Funky Music
Just Dance

Yeah, I should probably find something better to do with my time.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 146: Playoff Hockey Activities

Besides the Miami fans (title game/BU) where the dad told the kid, "Watch this, son. You're about to witness history." Ask Scarlet how that turned out. :D

Hey Hoven, It's a good thing you don't have any trips to Colorado Springs planned for the immediate future. The weather there has been canceled until further notice.
