Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 146: Playoff Hockey Activities

Long range forecast looks good! Need to figure out what to pack.....

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 146: Playoff Hockey Activities

Scarlet, just so you know, Mrs. goldy told me to offer you our spare bedroom for your stay - although I told her you would stay in downtown STP to be close to the action.

That is so nice - please tell her thank you from me! I'm already booked at the Holiday Inn as it will be easier all around getting to and from the airport and games. Much appreciated, though. I hope you guys will be at the games.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 146: Playoff Hockey Activities

Slightly cooler weather expected late in the week - upper 50s / low 60s. That is still extremely nice for this time of year (15-20F above average).

The fans will certainly show up, although it's an open question as to whether or not our teams will. :p

This. I will say, as I posted in the BU thread, this regional has the chance to be the most entertaining with the best crowds. If BU (or any of the teams) was meant to go to Tampa, they will. If not, I'm happy to be headed to one where I think all three games will be a lot of fun to witness.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 146: Playoff Hockey Activities

Something tells me your team will have a few thousand "fans" at the game. The fact they will be wearing UND colors is purely coincidental. :p

Attendance should be substantial with two big local draws. It should top the Denver regional in '07 (which I think holds the distinction of drawing the most fans for a neutral site).

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 146: Playoff Hockey Activities

Just bought tickets for goldy jr and I, Mrs has chosen to not attend. Jr. and I will likely be driving in from a Wild Turkey Hunting seminar that morning (no, not the kind that comes in bottles). He has drawn a special one day youth hunt for April 21 and we need to go to a seminar first and Saturday looks like our best chance for it.

Yeah, I'm trying to see if Agganis Arena has any extra of those shirts they handed out last month to ship on ahead. :D

With Minnesota and UND there, especially if they meet up on Sunday, will probably be the closest I get to a Final Five.

They very well may sell out both days with Saturday being a session.

I have a BU hockey t shirt that someone gave me as a gift on a trip out to BU...may have to bust that out for the late game?;)

You could probably hand them out to random UND fans on Saturday, although they might get a little overheated pulling them atop their Holy Cross shirts.

Let's just say the hatred would be palpable. Sitting in a section filled with UND fans in Denver's '07 regional was my own personal hell. I honestly don't know if it gets worse than seeing your team lose in OT with the GWG happening right in front of you, all while you are surrounded by opposition fans. I suppose Maine fans who were at the title game in '02 could comment on this, but screw them - MN was long overdue for a title that year. :p

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 146: Playoff Hockey Activities

Holy ****, that was a fun weekend. Perfect, except for the result from just about every game.

And next weekend: Sweet mother of god.

That year, two Maine fans got up with about a minute to go in regulation and walked past my friends sitting in that section and my friend said "Why are you leaving now? Game's not over!" and the Maine fan said to him "First in line for hats and tshirts." Heh. Karma.

Besides the Miami fans (title game/BU) where the dad told the kid, "Watch this, son. You're about to witness history." Ask Scarlet how that turned out. :D

Well, actually, he kinda did witness history. :)
