I'm with you two..Mavs lose on a bull **** call, finally play a good game, just another disappointing night. Can we catch a ****ing break? On top of that the Sioux play one period of hockey then tank it for 20 and blow it, just a frustrating night of hockey for me! :mad:

I like how that article mentions the specimens will go to the lab via pneumatic tubes - that's not exactly a high-tech method; we've been doing that for years. And no matter how high tech a situation is, it won't stop the idiots on the wards from shoving the wrong patient's specimens/requisitions into the bio-bags and sending us mismatched specimens forcing reorder/redraws. :rolleyes:

And there is the nice voice activated chart thing. You could drink all night at the bar telling stories about the humorous substitutions the voice recognition programs have made. My favorite was the one the patient had an alligator somewhere :D Not so humorous when you order a test and it is all wrong. Searching with voice recog would be even worse. We just changed systems and the diagnosis stuff is nuts. Like playing Taboo. They don't have what has been established medical dx for yrs, they renamed it. You have to think of all the alternatives until you hit the right one. We can't bill until we can pick a dx. So we stand in the nurses station all guessing what the right word would be. My favorite- there are no dx containing the word bowel or stool. Only feces. THat one really had us stumped.

Sounds like word association. If you want alternate words for a specimen type, just call the lab. Chances are that we'd be able to come up with it pretty fast. :D

The lab gal was stumped too. We were all in hysterics when we finally found the answer.

Good morning Lodge. Snowing heavily here. Hoping it stops in enough time for me to head to Providence tonight. That said, my headache is back. I need coffee and plan to catch up on all my TiVo'd shows while the snow falls today.

She couldn't guess feces? She's a fraud, then (or someone that doesn't work at all in microbiology). :p

Scarlet - do you think winning the seat of the game thing has impacted your opposite girl powers in any way? :D

No, in fact it just reinforced it. At the game last night there was a new promotion with Snapple. You bring in your bottle caps into the guest services desk and you get a raffle ticket. A bunch of prizes will be awarded at the March 2nd game. I asked my friend that I was sitting with if I could bring in caps from the bottles I have at home and he said yeah, the announcement did say from any Snapple beverage blah blah blah. I was like "Cool, cuz I have quite a few at home that I can start bringing in. not that it would matter. Cuz I NEVER win anything ever! :mad: And then the next period I won! :) See? It works in all facets of life.

Put your powers to the real test by aiming them squarely at my Denver job search and say I'll never find anything out there. If somebody out there hires me within the next 2-3 months, I will never doubt your powers again. :p

Good Morning Lodge.

Happy Hockey Day in Minnesota! The hockey day broadcast has already started on FSN. They are doing a Jabolnski telethon, they'll have some Pond Hockey Championship updates and later they'll have high school hockey, Gopher hockey and Wild hockey, wrapping up with a tape delayed girls high school game. They should send a crew to Eden Prairie arena to see our bantam team play. ;)

Not sure yet if jr will play today. He did not go last night. Confirmed that the rib was dislocated. He will try some shooting this morning and if it doesn't bother him he'll try to go at 12:15 for the second game of pool play. He'll have it wrapped with a big ace bandage. That game is against a Thunder Bay, CN team that we all worried about. Watched them get DESTROYED by a Minnetonka team last night - we've beaten the Tonka kids twice before. Our boys played like cold dog doo-doo last night and managed a 2-1 win over team they should have stomped. We'll see if they bring more jump today.

For those not in MN its also on FCS Central. So will it be worth my time to watch the White Bear Lake vs Grand Rapids high school game?

Morning, kids. As noted above and below, Hockey Day in MN. Gotta do some grocery shopping, a little cleaning, etc. Then the crew is headed over for some hockey and then TK's afterwards. Looks like a gorgeous (relatively) day out, too. Bright and sunny.
