Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 141: We Didn't Start The (* Hockey Table On) Fire

Quite a productive day thus far. I've gotten a lot of studying done, as well as scheduled two games for our squirts against metro teams. I'm trying as hard as I can to push for games against teams from the metro. If Southern MN ever wants to close the gap from the rest of the state, it's gotta start as early as squirts. We need that kind of development.

A fun story, so our Squirt A team was invited to Blaine last minute, and was given a first round game against Blaine, and a discount for the tourney; Blaine thought they had a cupcake in round one. 6-4 Mankato win, a loss to Wayzata 7-0, and a third place finish beating Hastings 7-3. 2-1 in the metro is a good start for what I hope and envision this association can become.

I want to have this youth association prepare its players well enough that come high school, Mankato West and Mankato East are at the top of their Section and fighting for State Tournament births regularly. Mankato West currently is doing so the last four years, with one tournament appearance, but East hasn't even been competitive since 2006.

When my son was a squirt one of his buddies was on the A team and Juttings' kid was on the Kato A team. Kato came to the Edina tourney and made it to the finals against Edina. Kato was good, but no depth. I think 10 skaters and a goalie. Two lines and two d-pair. Was close until the third when Kato ran out of gas.

We have the same problem year in and year out. Jutting's kid is on the Bantam A team this year standing atleast 6' 2". His other kid leads West with 5 goals in three games. His younger son is a defenseman, and is much better than the older one. (On a different level than the elder was in 8th grade.) Problem is, the majority of the A players throughout our association are Mankato West kids. (Which isn't that big of a problem as I'm a West Alum, but I'd like to see hockey continue to grow and that rivalry be as competitive as it was when I grew up.)

For shiats and giggles today at a staff meeting I put the following on the dry erase board: ttp and s&ss. I challenged anyone in the group that if they knew what they both were abbreviations for they could have the rest of the year off with pay. There were no winners. Not even in the ball park or the universe for that matter :)

If they'd won the s&ss, would that come with a free bottle of brain bleach? :D

Did you explain it when no one guessed correctly?

How many posters in USCHOville would be off the rest of the year if they had been present? :)

Making one the kids favorite dinners. 1) Cube up 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts and put in pan with light olive oil and season to taste and cook. 2) Cook up 4 servings of white Minute Rice. 3) Combine everything and then add Italian dressing. 4) Serve. Quick and tasty

ME! :)

Good idea on the favorite dinner. I have a rice cooker (best invention ever) so I'd do that, but everything else sounds very tasty.

Passed my sauce final! As long as I don't have a bad day on my production final, I'll make it to Skills II!

Great to hear, Bob!

Midweek * hockey table. **** it I hate Clarkson. Got them again Saturday up at Lake Placid.

However, highlight of the night is Mark Armstrong scoring a sportscenter quality goal and then proceeding to 'Bonesaw' the clarkson fans at Appleton. You RPI guys will know what I mean, I think. All for nothing, however.

I bet your hatred for Clarkson just went to a whole new level.
