Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 141: We Didn't Start The (* Hockey Table On) Fire
Quite a productive day thus far. I've gotten a lot of studying done, as well as scheduled two games for our squirts against metro teams. I'm trying as hard as I can to push for games against teams from the metro. If Southern MN ever wants to close the gap from the rest of the state, it's gotta start as early as squirts. We need that kind of development.
A fun story, so our Squirt A team was invited to Blaine last minute, and was given a first round game against Blaine, and a discount for the tourney; Blaine thought they had a cupcake in round one. 6-4 Mankato win, a loss to Wayzata 7-0, and a third place finish beating Hastings 7-3. 2-1 in the metro is a good start for what I hope and envision this association can become.
I want to have this youth association prepare its players well enough that come high school, Mankato West and Mankato East are at the top of their Section and fighting for State Tournament births regularly. Mankato West currently is doing so the last four years, with one tournament appearance, but East hasn't even been competitive since 2006.
