Good morning Lodge.

This morning at breakfast little g mentions to his grandma and grandpa "next time for Xmas just get me a lump of coal instead of pants and pajamas."

He's 5.

Mrs. g and I do not discuss the inlaw situation in front of our kids but it is funny on what they pick up on. Last night bil and his 9 year old daughter (my niece) received a boat load of gifts including toys. (Mrs. g and I barely got anything. Not that we care but the implied message was sent loud and clear). Then the inlaws mentioned that when bil and niece show up next week on Xmas that Santa will have more gifts for them. Anyways little g also asked grandpa and grandma why bil and niece got so much and his family didn't. Inlaws were speechless. The silence was priceless.

Wow.

If I may, I'm not sure it is healthy for you to subject them to this kinda **** (with the limited background-even if they could understand). I don't think kids should wonder why their grandparents play favorites - or treat them in a manner showing less love and affection. I wouldn't go. Wouldn't take them and have it thrust in their face like this.
I'm uncomfortable hearing them voice displeasure so openly. I would want my kinds to have love and respect for grandparents- not this.

(just my intrusive 2 cents. Feel free to ignore)

I agree. This is the first time that the inlaws have done something like this. Now is not the time to deal with it.

I apologize for posting this stuff and bringing it into the Lodge.

Don't apologize! For good or bad this serves as a sounding ******board for most of us-- get perspective.

Just punch them in the face. But wrap your fist in a ribbon, so it's all Christmas-y and stuff. Gotta keep the holiday spirit, ya know. ;)

Besides, I think this shiat is humorous and entertaining. It is a sad commentary but living it is like watching a train wreck. You know what is going to happen and you don't want to look but you just can't turn your head and i am here to share with all of you. You just can't make this crap up.

Yup, and the selfish side of me would enjoy it... But I wouldn't want my kids to feel cruddy like they do now. Have them tell grandpa/MA thanks again, but apologize that they already have these exact girl pajamas at home, or that the sizes are too small-- and get the receipts!! :D

That's a good job outta him! ;)

It's a shame that the in-laws are taking out whatever problem they have with you and mrs. g on those 2 little kids who have nothing to do with the sutuation.

Still one perceptive kid... on the other hand, if it were that stark I'd have a hard time not asking (even at that age).

I just wonder why you guys even go through with that... I'm sure your wife's heart breaks over this.... on the other hand, growing up with stark raving nuts I suppose maybe you get used to it.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 141: We Didn't Start The (* Hockey Table On) Fire

If you can't talk about your ignorant in Laws in the lodge, where you going to do it? :D We'd all like to come knock some sense into them for ya. Christmas is for kids and if they don't think lil G and Gjr won't remember this kind of pathetic behavior they are sadly mistaken.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 141: We Didn't Start The (* Hockey Table On) Fire

That's really a major shame that the lil g's have to go through this, at ANY time of the year, let alone Christmas time. Hope the gfamily has a very happy holiday season despite the attempted intrusion by the grinchparents :)

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 141: We Didn't Start The (* Hockey Table On) Fire

update from friday night... chatting w girl on text... find out that one of the guys that she was with is her boyfriend (she facebook friended me)... *sigh*... even if she was older there's nothing more deflating knowing you were just there to be teased.

I can't even begin to tell you how infrequently girls take interest in me.

edit: coupling that with yesterday's bar golf which turned out a lot more boring than I would have liked... which ended at a bar where it became a dance session... which usually puts me out (I swear, I've got move though). *sigh*

I did get this book of cheese/bad pickup lines during the white elephant...

If I was you, I'd be really tempted to not do anything with the in-laws at all next Christmas. Of course, the other half might have something to say about that...

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 141: We Didn't Start The (* Hockey Table On) Fire

Good Morning, Lodge!

Already went shopping this morning and dinner is in the crock pot. Time to make cookies and caramels!

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 141: We Didn't Start The (* Hockey Table On) Fire

I just had a burrito, and now I want another one. mmmm burritos

TK's was fun again. Got a number from some random girl, just another night at the bar. There were several there that were out of Patman's age range that I would have gladly gotten to know a little better. :p

Repeat what I said earlier- it is much easier when they are blatantly idiots then when they pull the doodoo of trying to buy your kid with stuff.
