He won't even try to drive the combine anymore. Which is funny, since it is so much easier now. The computer senses where the corn rows are and it drives itself. The combine we're buying for next year drives itself and the grain cart driving next to it. So if you want to unload-on-the-go, the guy driving the tractor pulling the grain cart pulls up close to the combine, presses a button, and the combine and tractor talk to each other, so that the cart stays centered under the auger, and the tractor just follows the combine around. So the combine drives itself, then talks to the tractor which then drives itself and follows the combine. The new combine also comes with a mini-fridge in the cab, to keep the beer cold. Since, if the combine drives itself, you may as well enjoy a beer and watch the corn go by.

edit: Also, I just got back from Ralph's favorite place, the dentist, and now I'm trying to eat a burrito with a numb mouth. I'm failing miserably.
the problem he probably has with it all that it doesn't at all sound like work. sounds more like a video game. Its probably don't going to be too much longer until they'll have grain carts that won't even need a tractor to drive them back and forth to the combine and semi. It will just have some sensors that talk to the combine as to where its at in the field, where in the field has been harvested, and where they left the semi, and how full the semi is.

Thanks all.....so far all systems go. Assuming her CT Scan comes back normal we will have a timetable in the next few weeks.

I know I give the scientist, engineers, & researchers (you nerds!) here a lot of grief but you guys truly are amazing. The doctor is confident she will have "normal" hearing because of this process. A sense can now be brought back.....simply amazing....keep up the good work, ya'll. :)

You people make all the jokes you want. I am preparing for the day all the farm equipment rises up and makes us their beeyotches.
I had a visual in my mind of the next transformers movie being farm equipment...

Little g had a blast on the ice today. He was a trooper. I pushed him around the ice on a chair. He tried with everything he had to handle the puck and by the end he made big strides. Long way to go but we will take it. He put the puck in the net on one occasion and after he scored he did a fist pump and then he looked up at me and said "dad I knew I could make a goal."

nice :)

Evening, somber night on the boat. My capt found out his mom passed away this afternoon. She got out of bed, fell and broke her hip, but couldn't get to a phone to alert anybody. He's getting off the boat in about 6 hours to fly out of Baton Rouge first thing in the morning. Really unfortunate :(

ok... that turned out pretty good... not bad for some back of the hand figuring... some slight modifications... can't brown up the chicken as much as I'd like without fearing the fire detector.

today I got challenged to make a better dinner by the gym trainer at work... unsure if it nets as healthier in the end (I'll let her figure it out/make the calculation)... took some broccolli, onion, and celery... let it "steam" w/ 2 cups of water on low heat for 15 minutes... after that I threw in some amount of soy, threw the chicken in, some sugar, some almonds, and a fair amount of cornstarch (don't mind it thick... yes, yes, folks, that's what she said)

edit: I would have liked having some bean sprouts on hand, but the safeway (the deep throat garage safeway) didn't have any. I hate going in there... its small and reeks of the 70s... actually that bit is kinda cool... its just small, difficult, and more expensive.
