NO but that means notheing. They are inventing degrees at that level all over the place.
Does your hospital have a test consultant from the lab that works with the doctors to minimize unnecessary lab tests?

Apparently one of the main goals of the creation of this degree is to have highly trained/knowledgeable people working with the docs to make sure the right tests get ordered based on the clinical situation of the patient. A lot of money and time is wasted with unnecessary tests (not to mention proper diagnosis is delayed if they aren't ordering the right ones).

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 138: HOCKEY HOCKEY HOCKEY HOCKEY!

I was either stupid enough to challenge 'diva to words with friends, or I am thinking I am good enough to make this close. So far, so good.

No, no. Come over to the HHT table as my guest.

No and if it is another one of those things that we have to deal with that tells me they know what I want when they haven't seen the patient because the insurance will like it better if I do X I am glad. We have way too many checks and balances that impede timely care because they think we need a pencil pusher to clear our logic while the patient languishes. I suppose someone who actually has a degree would be a nice change from Sally who wants to know what negative outcome will be when we have just said the person has a life threatening dx but...... Maybe it would be better to ask me not on a day I have worked. :p

At the meh hockey table right now.

Will decide which table I'll sit at in 20 game minutes. Maybe a little longer.

I don't believe the point of this is to create more bureaucracy. Doctors are far too ignorant when it comes to the purpose of the various lab tests at their disposal, and it leads to a lot of unnecessary orders. The idea behind the creation of this degree and the position it would fill in healthcare is not so much to throw an obstacle in the way of the providers but to give them a knowledgeable resource to take away a lot of the guesswork. It's simply unrealistic to expect doctors to know every single test and its primary purpose - that's where we come in (and we already do it on an informal basis when doctors call us and ask what certain results mean).

Happy Hockey Table for now.

F@(*#$(*# it all, I have to be at work tomorrow. If I didn't like my boss so much, I'd call him a dickhead. At least I'll get to take a day or a couple half-days off at some point in the next two weeks.

Amen. Except I'll have 3 days off at the end of the month. IA City to see some non-board friends, and then head back here to hang with some board friends that I hold dear. Yeah, sentimental, but dammit, you caught me at a bad time. I'm rather emotional after a Gophers win. ;)
