Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 137: Counting the long summer days

You guys realize Somalia is on the opposite side of the african continent right?
If Dias can get a Portugese galleon around the Cape of Good Hope, then the Situation can surely navigate Long Island around it.

(wishful thinking that the entire cast of Jersey Shore happens to be on Long Island at the time)

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 137: Counting the long summer days

What about Sarah Palin, Polar Bears, Sharks, and Volcanos?

Palin is too busy selling Alaska out to make big bucks being a Tea Party shill in the Lower 48 to be a threat.

Polar bears are nothing a can of bear spray can't fix.

Don't go in the ocean you dink.

Ummm...hope and pray.

I felt it here in NW Ohio. The house shook and I immediately went to the USGS site to check for activity and saw the earthquake in VA.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 137: Counting the long summer days

The only time I've ever felt the house shake was at my parents house when my dad would drive by in the D7. That **** thing rattled the whole place.

Of course I do, piracy is one of the things I was taught about in school ;) I know where NOT to go, which is why I'm quite content driving tugboats on the Mississippi.

FYI to the lodge: Dead Pool is starting a new year, the thread is in the Cafe, should be on page 1, everyone is welcome to put together a list. Details in my recent post in the thread.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 137: Counting the long summer days

Interesting day at work today. So, the girl who usually works on Fourth of July wasn't able to this year as she was on maternity leave. That's why I jumped on it. Loved it, had a blast. The big boss here had thanked me and told me I did a great job. Our company's 100th anniversary is next year so we want to kick it up a notch and I've already been involved in some of the talks and planning for the Fourth next summer. I told my boss at my mid-year that I want to work on it next year but the other girl is back so I get it if she wants it back (though I would be disappointed) and let her know that if there was any discussion about it, I really wanted to keep it. Maternity leave girl comes back last week, we meet to catch up on things I worked on while she was away, like this project. She asks me "Do you want to keep it? Cuz it sounds like you really enjoyed it." I said yes, told her to talk to our boss just to confirm. So, yay for me on that.

Then this morning, my boss calls me into her office to tell me the big boss and the woman heading up the planning for the 100th anniversary both specifically asked for me to be the account manager (as they are just realizing they need one on this). I was like "Wow, they asked for me??? Totally flattered and ABSOLUTELY!!" I've heard about some of the cool stuff they have planned so I'm really psyched that I got on this. There's lots of opportunity for exposure to the higher ups on this one. Should be a busy 12 months.

The trip to Tampa is all booked. That trip will not be affected. No worries there. :)

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 137: Counting the long summer days

For the first time in a month I now have a fully functional kitchen.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 137: Counting the long summer days

Either, preferably in the 5-8 to 5-10 range.

New cabinets, countertop and sink. All in place and the dishwasher is now running.

Why did you let her out in the rain?? Her makeup will run. ;)

Knocked out some more of my assorted stuff today. A few more days and I'll have gone thru everything that's been in there since I've moved back
home from college. Then there's the stuff in the basement. But I'm not so sure that's going to happen anytime soon.

Also met up with the GF for lunch today and saw the MSU field hockey contest at the Cali Pizza House in AA. Gotta love girls that are in shape.

Am I the only person in the northeast to NOT even notice there was an earthquake?
