Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 128: The Search for Wenches

yes, yes, 1,000x yes.

Morning lodge. Closing date pushed back a month because the bank is sandbagging on the house the sellers are trying to buy. Jerks.
Just for that you should back out of buying the house unless they (sellers, not bank) give you another 10k off. If you can't get a house, no one can! :D

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 128: The Search for Wenches

When Clinton visited tUMD when I attended there, half the city was shut down. We had to pass a checkpoint that required a quick background check just to get into the airport to watch Air Force One land. As for his speech, we had to show ID, go through metal detectors, etc etc. Saw a couple snipers atop of some buildings, all that jazz.

Given that we were in line a few hours before his speech (first come, first serve seating) we got to chat with one of the Secret Service guys. When asked if he'd take cover if someone tried to do harm to the president, his answer (stone cold expression): "My job isn't to take cover." What made it kind of funny is that he looked like an accountant with a midlife crisis, not a SS agent.
One of UMLs previous players was a SS for Clinton.

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE!! thursday. buried in snow.

Good morning, Lodge. Time to go to the gym, followed by taking more of Mom's stuff to Rescued Treasures and picking up a loaf of sandwich bread and a jar of Nutella.

Hrmm should I buy tickets to G Love and Special Sauce? I liked their/his first couple albums, but have they done anything recently? I haven't been paying attention to music.

I saw a Clinton speech once, completely by accident. My family was taking a summer vacation when I was younger, driving west to see the national parks, and other sights (Yellowstone, Glacier, Mt. St. Helens, Mt. Rushmore, etc) for a couple weeks. We got to Old Faithful and there was a huge crowd, we asked around and found out that Clinton was supposed to give a speech from there in about 30 minutes. So we stayed around to see it, I don't remember much of the speech, if I remember correctly we couldn't really hear anything because there wasn't much of a sound system in place. But we didn't have any background check or even a patdown to get there, the only thing that happened was the secret service came over to inspect my mom's camera to make sure it was legit when she took it out to take pictures.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 128: The Search for Wenches

Morning Lodge. I'd like to get a snow day once. :(

I was just looking at the standings for my kid's peewee team and it looks like they'll end up tied for second in District with another Edina team (we split with them), first will go to Burnsville who the other Edina team trounced the other night and we expect to beat. But Burnsville didn't lose or tie against lesser teams like we, and the other Edina team did. They also don't lose so many Fair Play Points. Fair Play Points in MN youth hockey are points you get automatically, but can lose for taking too many penalties - we and the other Edina team have lost 3 each, Burnsville only 1. :( I expect it'll be Burnsville 42 Points, Edina White and Edina Green 41 points, Edina Black 39 points, then who cares... Then District playoffs.

It's OK, the more Fair Play points you lose the more interested North Dakota becomes in recruiting your players. :D

Just curious, are these Edina Peewee teams the same that are listed as #3 and #7 for Peewee B1 on the Let's Play Hockey Rankings?

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 128: The Search for Wenches

Nope. My kid is a B2 PW. LPH doesn't rank B2s (as they shouldn't since there is no Stat Toruney for B2).
Holy crap, Edina has a bunch of Peewee teams! 1 Peewee A, 2 Peewee B1, and 3 PeeweeB2. Thats a whole bunch of kids that play hockey.

Don't forget 4 C teams for a total of 10 teams. What's the big deal? We had 11 last year. 150 boys (actually 149 boys and 1 girl) out as skaters from 6th and 7th grade and 15 goalies this year. Last year it was about 172 skaters. The numbers drop off above and below this group (although the squirts might be more skilled - the squirt A team wins by double digits most nights as do the 3 squirt B teams). When these two year classes (this year's 7th and 8th grades) are together they are a huge group and very strong - last year the PWA won state, the two B1s played each other for state, two of the B2s played for District and two of the Cs played for District. They'll be big again in Bantams next year.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 128: The Search for Wenches

Another boatload of snow overnight. It did what the forecasters said and stopped by 7am-ish. The sidewalk I take to the T was not shoveled. Tried walking thru it, fell twice, gave up on that route and walked another way, adding on about 10-15 minutes to my commute. We got notification from the office that we have a delayed opening to 9:00am. Um, I usually try to make it in by 8:45-9:00am anyway. Does that mean I have till 10:00-10:30? Meh. I was here by 9:15am. And the sun is out. Lots of people did not make it in. I have stuff to do today because I'm off tomorrow. Heading up to Orono. Save me a seat and prepare me a martini at the *hockey table, would you?

Dammit, they found chronic wasting disease close to home. I was hoping it would stay away from us. :(

W came to mother mining a few years ago for some sort of tour and it included the building where I worked. Two days of guys with things in their ear and sniffing dogs then the night before the restricted access to certain areas of the building. Day of there were a couple SS agents checking badges and reminding us we could not leave the building between 11AM & 1PM for security reasons. The SS guys were very cool but the locals where a pain. If you ever take the White House tour be sure to chat with them as they are stationed throughout the house and are very, very, knowledgeable about the house and its contents.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 128: The Search for Wenches

After the letter D does it even matter? I mean then the size becomes comical and unattractive.

I don't think we should be so sizest and quick to judge. I think more hands-on research is needed before such a statement is made.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 128: The Search for Wenches

I've got the itch to go on a vacation, and its been less than a month since I went to Vegas, this is not good.

Great. Since there are so many research subjects, how about you take the letter sizes D and above and I'll work on the ones below. Then we can compare notes. :D
