Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 128: The Search for Wenches

Not much different than Northern Maine so piece of cake for me,except No. Maine has trees:D

The trees are the difference maker though - they block the wind and cut that windchill to tolerable levels!

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 128: The Search for Wenches

all these whiners about Grand Forks in January. I walked to class when it was -63 degree windchill outside. Man up you *kers!

To put this in perspective: exposure time before frostbite at -40 windchill is about 5 minutes. Even Tech cancels classes at -40.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 128: The Search for Wenches

Big part of No. Maine is potato fields or other Agriculture. Its wide open in spots. They'll have -40 wind chills this weekend and actuals temps in the minus 20 or 30 depending on where you are.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 128: The Search for Wenches

****ing North Dakota.

Sloe, you didn't have to be out in it for 3 hours at a time though, did you?

By about 2 this afternoon, it actually felt really nice out, no wind, sun was out, above 0. I realized that I had been working outside for about an hour in just my hooded sweatshirt and jeans, no jacket, insulated pants, hat or gloves. This place is evil.

No, I don't think so. The only time I ever had classes cancelled was because of extreme drifting snow, the drifts were up to 10 feet deep across some roads.

I was always told classes became "optional" at 20 below, and canceled at 40 below.

they wouldn't cancel classes because they figured everyone would stay home and drink. They were accurate. Our classes were like 1/4 full that day. Got extra credit.

no, I'm not a *king idiot. :p

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 128: The Search for Wenches

Here's how the ski season is going so far in part of Colorado. The NBC television affiliate just ran a story about Breckenridge, where my wife and I ski frequently. In terms of snowfall, the thirty year average for Breckenridge is 300 inches. This year the ski area has been open exactly nine weeks. In that time the total snowfall as measured at mid-mountain is 290 inches. The two snowiest months of the year in our state are March and April. This is shaping up to be a most memorable ski season.

Beef stew and a nice glass of cabernet for dinner at Chez Shot as light snow[1-3 inches has been predicted] falls on Denver. Have a good night folks.

Had a slab of ham and some corn for dinner. I have a cold. Again.

Back from another track meet. Done early but snow made everyone drive 20 mph the whole way home. For cripes sake- the roads are just wet people!! Lil ran his 2nd fastest time in the 2 mile and wasn't happy.

Well, when you've wrecked a vehicle on black ice, you do tend to be a little leery.

Corporate headquarters

Cargill, Incorporated
PO Box xxxx
Minneapolis, MN
55440-9300
United States

It's one of the largest US corporations that's still privately held. It's official world headquarters is in Minnetonka. You should know this, being from MN and all.

Cargill Ltd. is out of Winnipeg, Manitoba. Cargill is their parent company. I know this because I am from Minnesota and all.

Heh, to be honest, I'm quite similar when it comes to shooting. I shot my career best back in December, and while I was pleased with the result, I knew I could have done better and wasn't ecstatic about it. Actually, since that event, I've been wondering how much better I would be with proper coaching and teaching from a dedicated coach... up to this point it has basically been completely self-taught (8 years now). A score of 580 is sort of the benchmark of "elite" shooters, and my best is a 572 right now. I'm very happy with that score, but I really, really want to break that 580 barrier... possibly only 2 more career matches left.

They changed the windchill formula since then. What was -63 back then is probably more like -40 these days.

I've been outside when the actual air temperature was -35 - it's tough to describe just what that feels like. You know it's *'ing cold when it's hard to breathe in the air even without wind.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 128: The Search for Wenches

Just backed the family's minivan (Honda Odyssey) down the icy, inclined, narrow driveway (apparently dad isn't that into snowblowing or putting salt down) and into the garage without hitting a snowbank, sliding, or hitting my own car while the 3 girls were singing at the top of their lungs. I can't decide if I should be proud of that accomplishment or not.

You're a natural! I haven't had to deal with three at a time; yikes. I *have* successfully navigated driving down a winding hill in a snowstorm and having a 2-yr-old throw up -- copiously! -- in the back seat. Good times.

I can never drink lemon Gatorade again:D

Walrus, you just took me back to an unhappy place. Curse you.
