Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 127: So This is the New Year...

SB, I'm a java hound so every day is a coffee day for me. As for dinner tonight it's chili here at Chez Shot.
So am I. I'm interested in trying as many varieties as possible.

And for those who don't want to do the math, here's a link to figure out how much caffeine could actually kill you.
My personal favorite: at 175 lbs, it'll take over 715 Clif Shot Bloks to kill me.

Evening, Lodge. The goulash was a major success.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 127: So This is the New Year...

stay with Brent! He won't charge! He's too spineless to ask for money!

In Omaha. I'm heading to Santa Barbara tonight. Long layover there tomorrow. Supposed to be 70 and sunny. Think I'll go swim in the ocean. :D

I'd be surprised if he didn't, but like I said, I'd crash at Brent's if need be, since I know he's not the type to charge people. :)

I figure people stay here for free, I stay at others' for free (road trips, mainly). It's karma. :)

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 127: So This is the New Year...

Give me a seat at the * snow table please. Woke up to well over a foot on the ground and the forecast was just revised to at least 4 more hours at 2-3" per hour and maybe more if the storm continues to slow down! They're now saying parts of Connecticut could see 30" or more!!!

The drift at the back door is easily 4' deep. Had to remove the glass from the storm door to try and shovel it clear. Still haven't been able to get it open enough to walk out, so I'm going to sit here and drink another cup of coffee. The dog's not happy about that but she'll have to wait a little longer.

I think it'll be a * work day as well based on the news reports of travel being at an almost standstill and apparently several abandoned cars on the highways. Even though I have a full-size 4WD pickup with a plow I'm not even going to attempt to make the trip to work! In 30 yrs I've never missed a day due to snow... maybe it's time?

When this pot of coffee is gone I'll consider trying to clear my driveway... ;)

With the weather that bad, I wouldn't expect that the pot of coffee would want to go anywhere either. ;)

I got a call from my brother who works in Elmsford, NY (near the Tappan Zee Bridge) that is place is closed.

School is operating as normal today. Buzzzzzzkillllllll. Wanted to go hit the slopes again today. We've only got like 8" or so maybe in NYC.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 127: So This is the New Year...

Snow day!!! They closed my office for the day!! I had been given the OK to work from home today even though I was going to try and head in later this afternoon as I had a meeting. But now I don't, because no one will be there! It's a mess right now. The sky is a weird shade of blue/gray. Not supposed to stop till much later today and a foot or so has already fallen.

While I'll probably check email on a regular basis, I may watch a couple of movies.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 127: So This is the New Year...

JUst started snowing here, supposed to get a 8 inches or so, good to hear Southern New England is getting hammered:)

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 127: So This is the New Year...

My work never shuts down even when we get feet of snow at a time. :(

We never do either, which is why I'm shocked. Four or five years ago (maybe six? it was that the Patriots beat the Steelers in the AFC Championship game) I was up in Bangor, ME for the BU-Maine weekend. Like this storm, it was worse in Boston and moving up to Maine on Sunday, which was the day we were supposed to drive home. We had to stay the night. Was watching the news and they showed the mayor of Boston and he's telling people the city was shut down, stay home, etc. The city got 30" of snow. So, Monday morning we get up, I call the office closing hotline and sure enough "The office is open today." So I called my boss and said "I'm in Bangor, we're leaving now, I'll get there when I get there." Made it into the office by 1:30 because I wasn't going to waste a vacation day when the office should have been closed in the first place. We got more snow that storm than I think we're getting now and didn't close, so I didn't think we were going to close today.

Bad weather is one of the reasons I love the ability to work remotely at my job. Being that we are an online company, we just aren't going to close.

That's 'cause you're not out in the wussy east.;)

I know, I know we whined like little babies when we had 18" fall in December.
The only whining I heard was complaining about people that don't know how to drive in the snow, and I was complaining about ****ty drivers too.

There was LOTS fo whining about Minneapolis and St. Paul's inability to get the streets plowed in a timely manner. Considering the snow fell on a Saturday and the city streets were still a mess on Monday, there was justification for some bichin.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 127: So This is the New Year...

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE!! wobbly wednesday.
Snowing here- >1 ft. Wouldn't be a big deal but it is sticking to everything despite the wind. Still have power. That is good.

Maybe people should learn how to deal with it, or don't live in the north. That crap makes me mad.
