Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 122: Autumn has arrived.

Good morning Lodge. It's way too early for me to be up, but I'm currently sitting in the shuttle van for the ride to LAX. I hope there are no screaming babies on this flight so I can go back to sleep.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 122: Autumn has arrived.

THis is what the Salvation Army, Goodwill and an email to all friends and family provides.
I have some stuff lined up, just don't have it yet. Actually we will move some beds and other stuff into the bedrooms tonight, since we're not doing much to them until after the living room is finished. For the living room I want to get a nice couch and loveseat set, I will probably scour craigslist for what I'm looking for, since I know exactly what I want. For miscellaneous tables, coffee tables, end tables, etc. I will just be on the lookout for stuff, probably craigslist, garage sales, or discount/clearance stores.

edit: most importantly, I will be ordering a nice LCD TV sometime soon. :D

What area did you buy a house in? I forget if you said 94 months ago when you started this process.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 122: Autumn has arrived.

Conduit, just run it along the wall at the same level, and you can have it pop out where ever you want it too. You could paint it the same color as the wall, or a different color to make it look different. Would take some practice getting the bends on it right if you do it yourself. ;)

Umm, he has an actual house, not a stable, or a shanty in the woods.

Yeah, thats what I was thinking too. :p

I think I'm just going to hold off on running any wires, I looked closely at where I'd have to run them last night, and I don't think it would be possible to do without cutting out a bunch of sheetrock. Oh well, its not a really big deal.

Mornin' Loj. Congrats bb_dl!

So, you know how some babies/kids dance when they hear the theme song to a show they like(e.g. "Sesame Street", "Spongebob")?? Well, my kid dances to "Family Guy". Yeah.

The Slumberland outlet store in SLP is decent.

Greyeagle lives in St. Paul, he may know the Lutheran church if you know the name.

Hey, it's all Rome on the correct side of the river, buster. Keep your schism-ated Protestant questions over there in Minne-a-No-Place. :p

Heard it was 107 in LA today. Hope you made it out of town.

Pfft, noobs. The Catholic church we attend in Edina is older than your Cathedral. :p

Fixed, meant the cathedral, not basilica.

Not yet Dave. Sitting at the gate. No window seats . :( It was 113 yesterday. Hottest day ever on record. It was supposed to break today or tomorrow. Not that it matters for me but my parents are staying the week and my brother is taking them to Palm Springs today. Because that's where you want to go when it's this hot....the desert.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 122: Autumn has arrived.

Hello, Lodgers. Checking in from the "office". Big week this week with a special birthday coming up. Taking the kiddies to the mall this afternoon to pick up a gift and then will be making 2 cakes this weekend: 1 chocolate with peanut butter cream cheese frosting and chocolate ganache on top (pix have been previously posted in a Cooks thread and on fb) and 1 chocolate cake with chocolate frosting. Baking to be done on Saturday most likely to allow cakes' flavors to come together overnight. I'm also thinking about making homemade tomato sauce this week with the giant can of crushed tomatoes we got at BJ's.

Congrats on the house, dl. Good luck.

Scarlet - did you read about The Bar Formerly Known as T's over in the BU thread? End of an era...though I suppose the era was really over when it became "973 Commonwealth Ave" instead of T's. :(

Went to the giant cathedral in St. Paul on my last trip out there. Pix here. A really gorgeous building.

Has anyone had experience with Panasonic Viera LCD TV's? I found a pretty good deal where they'll throw in a Blu-Ray player online, just wondering if this is a decent TV. Maybe I'll stop at Best Buy on the way home and see how the different ones look, so I don't get a crappy TV.

Are you going to get a 3D TV too? :D

I've been happy with my Vizio. Had it over a year and not one problem.

FWIW I have a 50" Panasonic Viera plasma. Three years old. At the time it was a top pick by Consumer Reports. No issues and I would buy another Panasonic in a heart beat.

FWIWII I have a friend who works at Best Buy and he is quite high up in the food chain. He has told me that Christmas deals on Plasma and LCD TVs are going to be incredible.

FWIWIII I have the opportunity to buy a 65" LCD for $1,500.00..................

FWIWIV Regarding TV size. Always buy the bigger screen if the budget allows it. If you are debating a 42" go with the 50". You will not be disappointed.

FWIWV Get a 1080p

FWIWVI I've got nothing.
