Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 122: Autumn has arrived.

Morning!

I do not have today off. But that's OK. Daytime TV stinks and the bars are empty in the afternoons. :(

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 122: Autumn has arrived.

Morning Lodge.

I've been quite busy over the last couple weeks. Finally, I've stayed in my house for 2 straight nights, and it looks like I'll get a week home before having to go on the road again.

While I have been gone, apparently my mom hasn't had much to do, since she has been painting and tearing out walls in the house. The painting we talked about, but I didn't exect to come home to being able to see the studs in one of the bedrooms. In the end it was probably good to get that sheetrock replaced, it was in bad shape. Also, last night I worked on re-tiling a corner of the living room that is meant to have a wood stove. It was in bad shape before, now I'm putting down some sweet marble tiles I found on sale for dirt cheap at Menards. I have all of them cut and the base cement board down, now I just have to install the tiles. After the tiles, I just need to install a couple new trim boards and the upstairs (minus the bathroom that needs to be finished) will be done for the time being.

Last week in Houghton, for career fair week, was absolutely crazy. Sunday and Monday were pretty relaxed, only had a seminar on Sunday to give and some information sessions Monday night. Monday during the day we all took the company trucks (quad cab, long box Rams) up into the Keweenaw and did some off-roading. One of the girls on the recruiting team ended up sliding a truck sideways into a tree and put a good dent and scrape in the box. :D Tuesday's career fair was busy, apparently the word got out that we're hiring a bunch of engineers and our line was never less than about 30 people. Interviewed people the rest of the week. Now I get to catch up on my real work this week.

Wow, cool mom!

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 122: Autumn has arrived.

Morning Lodge.

Condolences to Mr. and Mrs. Shot. :(

You guys are still doing tryouts? Lil has been playing for a month.

Yep. Around here the non-profit, local association hockey does not conflict with football season - tryouts do, but not games.

Not off today, need to get some stuff done before I leave for Fla on Friday

Is this Florida in Maine like Mexico is?

Going to pick up a new car after work today. Not too excited because it is pretty utilitarian vehicle to get me to work and back. Subaru Imprezza 4-door, 2010 demo.

Direct competition here. No cooperation. FB is 6 days a week, ridiculous requirements to play- not allowed to miss practice, even with Dr note, or no playing the game that week. FB is completely, inappropriately, insane. Neither factors the other into anything. Cooperation would be sacrilege

Wow, cool mom!
Well, I appreciate her help, I sure didn't want to do all that painting, but she needs to understand the concepts of budget and plan a little better. She has grand plans for the house, which I won't be able to afford for a couple years, and she wants to start buying stuff for her plans even though I have no intention of even starting working on some of that stuff for at least 5 years. We were at Menards and she wanted to buy tile for both bathrooms and the kitchen. We didn't plan on buying tile for any of the three, so didn't measure the rooms, and had no idea how much we'd need. Plus, I don't plan on touching the kitchen until every else is done, at least 5 years.

Football there sounds like A hockey here.

I heard one set of parents told their kid they'd give him $200 if he made the A team. Another mom offered to give her kid $200 if did NOT make the A team. ;)

Parents are nuts....see sports parenting thread for examples

Good morning, Lodge!

I feel fantastic! There's a weight off my shoulders. I quit my job today! :D

Granted, I'll still be here through next Wednesday, but it feels soooooo good.

The only downside is that I now have to move to Ohio, but I can look past that. I get to be with HN again and that's the important part. I also have a job lined up, which is the last piece we were waiting on.

Can. Not. Wait. :)

At 3.30 in the morning:eek: Have fun:D

Less tourists to hit while he's out at that hour.

Yeah, at his age, 6 days of Football is a bit much, especially with that no miss rule. You're not all going to the NFL there.

So you're going to be unemployed in Ohio. YUCK!!!! ;) :D

Ended up being a DD for the wedding yesterday. Was pretty much a sausagefest as about every women there was pretty much spoken for. And I don't wanna say the thing was a bit redneckish, but the guy who caught the garder ended up putting it on his mom's leg. and the thing is, he jumped out for it. the Groom was wanting to throw it towards my brother, but it was far more coming towards me.

They also tried pumping my brother full of rum and coke at the reception to hopefully see if he had enough liquid courage to give the Best Man's speach. They probably needed to skimp on the coke some more, as he ended up passing that off to the groom's brother in law, who was one of the Groomsman. Lame.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 122: Autumn has arrived.

What part of "I also have a job lined up" did you misunderstand? :p

At least it's not Wisconsin...
Would you actually move if it was? I'd expect not as you likely have standards.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 122: Autumn has arrived.

He is not. He is saying that it is a vag brush. Which literally it is, given the part number. :p
way to tell BPH what he was saying. :p
I'm telling you what he meant, not him. :p

What I actually meant was that both of you have a vag, and Sloe Gin wants to use the brush Brent already broke in :p

Congrats, mel! Hope the job works out for you, and good to hear you can be with HN! Maybe that'll make Ohio a little less crappy. :D

Morning, Lodge.

Congrats and good luck!

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 122: Autumn has arrived.

I was glad to see Denver won this evening, 5-3 versus Vermont, as wins may be tough to earn early in the season. After tomorrow's game against UVM the Pioneers face BC, Wisconsin and NoDak on consecutive weekends. To say the least, October will be a challenging month for the Pioneers. Nice start boys and good luck tomorrow night.:)
Yikes! That's quite a schedule for the beginning of the semester. Talk about trial by fire.

Tough day. My wife's uncle--her dad's last surviving sibbling--died this morning. My wife was quite close to her uncle. Been on the phone with family much of the day. Rosary and funeral plans are pending. He and I had much in common and I greatly enjoyed the time I was able to spend in his company. Tough day.
:( My condolences.
Good morning MEUSA, Ralph, Walrus and tLodge!

For once I wasn't up when Ralph was, Miss Wiggle's schedule has changed, so her middle of the night wakeup was at 2am, not 3. Now, we just need to get her to go a little longer between feedings in the middle of the night.
Awww...I suppose 2am is better than 3?

YAY!!! :D :D :D

Hello, Lodge. Babysat overnight for my charges on Friday into Saturday, then left at 10am for a wedding in Lake George on Saturday. Lovely wedding (my cousin) and got to spend some time with my family (and extended family, which, being Irish, is definitely extensive). Drove back to NH on Sunday with a break at tcbg's dad's house to say "hello" for a few hours. Working today (though could have really used the day off, I could use the $$ even more). :o

I'd have to hope for someplace close to a border if that were the case. Thankfully, it's not an issue. I know to a Michigander we're living in the equivalent, but I don't care that much.

I do find the trend of getting farther away from Minnesota disturbing, though.

P.S. Thanks for the well wishes everyone! :)
