Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 121: How will you spend your days until the season starts?

Good morning! Happy Friday!

New addition to the list of wildlife I have seen since moving back to New England, there was an opossum in our yard last night. The poor thing was kind of stuck in the woods on the other side of the fence from our backyard. Our collie had scented it and was barking at it from our side of the fence. The critter didn't realize that the dog couldn't get to him, so he just sat there. I finally figured out what the dog was barking at and brought him inside.

Heh - I loved your wedding. There wasn't anything wrong (except the snow!).
Hey, the snow was for you. We figured if we got married in a blizzard my extended family wouldn't show up and you wouldn't have to go through meeting everyone at once. :p ;)

I wonder if it is some kind of omen if it snows on your wedding day?

BOOBIES. :D

Evening, Lodge. Dad's (second) surgery went well - he's spending the night at the hospital as a precaution, but things are slowly getting back to normal around here. I think he's pretty much stir-crazy too, and wants to start working and teaching again. Thanks for the well-wishes!
Good to hear! I hope he is back on his feet quickly!

Not that I'd expect you to know this, but they only cost about $50, and she'd only have to take 2-3 per week. Unless you think her boss has a credit limit typically given to a minor, she could easily buy dozens if not hundreds of pills on her boss' credit card - which would last her months if not years.
What's with the math? I was told there would be no math!

Plus, why are you bringing logic into a nonsensical conversation anyway?
Good to hear.

Good morning boys!

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE!! friday. finally.

Lil found out last night at 8 something he has to wear a tie today. Not good- all his 'dress' stuff except one unfavorite shirt is too small. He just went out the door Bermuda style- cargo shorts, plaid shirt and tie. We did get him to tuck in his shirt but I bet he untucks it. Untucked he looks like a disreputable character from Forrest Gump. No sense of style.
Well, of course he leaves it untucked. What is the point of shirt tails if you are just going to hide them in your shorts? ;) :p

So the apple didn't fall far from the tree? ;)

My kid has been playing on a crappy, just for fun, hockey team in spring and fall. No practices, just show up for games when you can and go out and have fun. Were not too bad in spring, but a couple of the better players didn't play in the fall so we kinda sucked - bunch of C and B2 players playing against B1 and A players. Last night we had a ringer show up - one of my kid's buddies who was on the state PW B1 champs last year and will be on the A team this year. We lost 9-5 with the ringer netting 4 of our goals. It's fun to watch him skate around their whole team like they do to us.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 121: How will you spend your days until the season starts?

My wife and I are looking forward to a terrific weekend. We're heading to Breck late this afternoon for a three day getaway. We hope to be timing our stay with the fall foliage hitting the peak of its colors. The forecast is spectacular: sunny days with highs in the mid 60s and clear nights with lows in the mid 30s.

It's "shoulder season" in Colorado's ski towns, meaning summer vacation has ended and ski season won't start in earnest for another couple of months. Lots of shops and restaurants reduce staff and hours of operation at this time of year because there simply isn't enough business to justify keeping full staffs and running at "full normal" hours. Main Street should be noticeably quieter, but our favorite restaurants are still open for business. Really looking forward to being in the mountains for the next few days. I hope all LODGEONIANS enjoy the upcoming weekend.

What a relief. It was bit nerve-wracking to go to a family wedding on our 4th or 5th date. :p It did make for beautiful pictures though.
Nice! How far did you run this morning?
Only about 1.3 miles alternating jogging and walking for 20 minutes, but it's my first time out in about 6 weeks and I was wary of any foot pain. No pain this morning, so I may try and pick up the pace tomorrow. Sunday is a rest day as we're going to 6 Flags.

My wife and kids are in West TX visiting family this week, so I am looking forward to a weekend of reading, smoking cigars, eating poorly-cooked food, and (to some) an excessive amount of beer.

Go Air Force, indeed!

With Ralph's pending retirement, someone has to pick up the slack.

I couldn't stop myself from doing it. I'll try to show greater restraint next time. :p

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 121: How will you spend your days until the season starts?

Depends on my schedule. I could probably use the tune-up before the Detroit Marathon, but if I'm working that day, it's a no-go.

And it's not too early to be up; I've already got coffee on, oatmeal in the oven, and am picking up a loaf of good French bread later this morning.
I got ya, just let me know whats going on.

Good to hear.

You let him sit over your shoulder and read the lodge. Of course he's going to become a disreputable charactor after any exposure to US! ;) :D
That boat is going back to bed. I don't remember making that post.

hehehehe. :D :D

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 121: How will you spend your days until the season starts?

BTW, it looks like I will actually be closing on the house on Monday. So next Friday night there will be a little celebration at the new bachelor pad. I will see what I can do about getting a keg of Nordeast, if it is as impossible as I expect, I'll get a keg of Premo. Come on over, those of you I know and don't hate. :p

fine, I hate you too. :p

(seriously, can't make it, but I will make it sometime)

I have a friend. After yesterday, I don't see why we're still friends. He's a Packer fan and a Flyers fan. Yesterday he said that Broadway was terrible and tasted like cardboard and Fat Lorenzo's was the best pizza by far in the Twin Cities. Now to be fair, I've never had Fat Lorenzo's....but, to say such nonsense about Broadway? He needs to be hit in the head with a hammer.

first off, congratulations on having a friend. Second off, Fat Lorenzo's is actually really good. Better then Broadway? Not sure about that. But it is a fair comparison. Had he said Pizza Hut or Papa Johns, he deserves hammerpunches up the wazoo.

He deserves hammerpunches for being a Packer and Flyers fan.

Having friends isn't his problem.

Mornin', Lodge.
Headed off to O-ho-ho after work for the weekend. Hoping to make a nice dinner tomorrow night. It'll probably depend on how much he'll have to work as to what I decide to do.

Afternoon Lodge. Gale-force gusts here today, and the weather guessers are saying they'll get stronger by mid-afternoon.

Yeah... I went down to keep our resident smoker company and I couldn't believe how windy it was!

Yep, really putting a crap in my idea of wandering around Fall Fest tonight in Clinton. Eh, maybe I'll just watch Serenity tonight instead, watched all of the Firefly episodes earlier this week.

Ughhhh, I know it was a very successful night when I'm hungover the next day, considering I typically only get hangovers after whiskey nights.

Slept until 12:30 or so, now deciding if I want to drink again tonight, knowing that tomorrow night will be a heavy drinking night with it being homecoming here.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 121: How will you spend your days until the season starts?

I'm sitting at Houston airport waiting to go home.

Customer was at our test facility this morning and he was ****ed. He told me "I know its not your fault but someone needs an asschewing, so i am going to tell you what is ****ing wrong with this piece of **** and you'll have to relay the message to the right people so someone gets their *** chewed" all in a cajun accent. It was interesting, probably only because i wasn't the one that had ****ed up big time. So i called my supervisor's supervisor right away and told him about it all, and he agreed that there was a big problem with what was going on with the project and he said he'd immediately make some calls to deliver some of his own asschewings. Overall i think i did all i could and made a good impression for myself on everyone by the way i handled the situation.

Also, i might have to come back down next week to work on this some more, so i'll have to close on the house and leave right away, then get back on friday just in time for the party friday night. Then on saturday i have to leave for houghton where i'll be for a week for career fair. We're hiring 1100 new college hires this year so there are a bunch of interviews to do.
