Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 121: How will you spend your days until the season starts?

Morning. 2 classes, week ends at 3. Yankees game tonight with atleast one of my buddies, who knows how many more we'll meet up with, along with many beers tonight... it's been a frustrating and exhausting week for some reason.

Morning!

The doctors tell me I am apparently healthy. In celebration I drank more than I should of for a Wednesday night. :o :D

Party in the Lodge today. 100 days before I plan to retire (not from posting ;) ) on January 1.

Does this mean there will be more math in the Lodge, since you'll be doing less of it at work?

Congrats - I think! But this retirement thing might not be good for you, or us...

 Really? I thought this was something you flirted with every yr and then decided against.

If he changes his mind, I will retire and he can do my job. :D

It's perfect for him as it involves using math and Excel all day long.

One got to do it at some time. I am six years past the time that I became eligible to retire, and yes indeed I have thought about it often over the years. I have been the long serving member of my Division for about the last year. I may still work part time as a contractor.

Next time, go find AB's recipe for sweet potatoes with chipotles. Super yummy. :)
I'm headed back to the market today; I'll see if anyone has chipotles on hand.

You prefer the cock? :p

Mashed sweet potatoes as a side for pork are a great alternative to applesauce.
That, and I was sick of making sweet potato fries all the time.

I hear ya, but making and mashing sweet potatoes is a little easier and quicker. I don't always feel like making my grandmother's applesauce, particularly during the summer months. Once you've had a good, homemade applesauce, the jarred stuff is like Beast Light.

BPH: I was shocked I got to make the joke. Figured someone would've beaten me to the punch.
I've never had homemade applesauce, but I suppose now's as good a time as any to try making it...

Blech to applesauce. But I will agree that the vegetable of choice with pork chops is green beans.
Think I like spinach a little better.

Frozen or fresh work well - canned suck balls.

BTW, what'd you think of the recent pic of the ward clerk?

Canned veggies suck arse. I like the Steamers (frozen veggies) line that Bird's Eye (?) puts out.

If it's the frozen that you have to put in a bowl and nuke or whatever, I usually put some butter in there before cooking it, so it really seeps into the vegetable.

And meh.
Canned veggies work if you rinse and drain them before cooking. Otherwise, all you taste is salt.

Morning, Lodge. Taking more boxes to Goodwill today, then making parmesan-encrusted whitefish with rice for dinner tonight.

Mornin' Loj. Anybody want a cold? Free of charge. It's slightly used, and I'm done using it.

You'll probably have to go to the grocery store, unless someone at the market makes their own. In case you don't know (I know you have quite a bit of knowledge), chipotles are just smoked jalapenos. They're usually canned in adobo sauce.

To make it easy on you :)

Chipotle Smashed Sweet Potatoes

Ingredients

* 2 large sweet potatoes, peeled and cubed
* 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
* 1 whole canned chipotle pepper in adobo sauce, chopped
* 1 teaspoon adobo sauce from can of peppers
* 1/2 teaspoon salt

Directions

Put cubed potatoes into steamer basket and place steamer into a large pot of simmering water that is no closer than 2 inches from the bottom of basket. Allow to steam for 20 minutes or until the potatoes are fork tender. Add butter to potatoes and mash with potato masher. Add peppers, sauce, and salt and continue mashing to combine. Serve immediately.

Morning Lodge.

Yesterday was busy, with about 14 hours of work, now today I'm stuck in Houston with nothing to do. :p
The customer whose engine we've been testing is here today, so I need to be here to make a good impression, and "have a presence" as my supervisor said it, but I'm not supposed to do anything, because the customer is doing a bunch of testing themselves. Oh well, maybe I'll get some good food out of the deal.

In other words, I'll probably be lurking around here, when I'm not busy having a presence.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 121: How will you spend your days until the season starts?

sweet potatoes are not good.

The end.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 121: How will you spend your days until the season starts?

Sweet potatoes are good when they are done right. I've had some really bad ones and some very tasty ones.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 121: How will you spend your days until the season starts?

Sweet potatoes aren't bad. Sweet potato chips are where it's at, however.

Just played video games for class credit for 3 hours. Our renovated ship simulator (went from just 1 simulator to 2 that can work together) allows us to operate a ship and a tug and work cooperatively in an effort to dock the ship. Yep, it's pretty sweet... we were in Port Elizabeth, NJ this morning, Houston last week, who knows where next week.

You could swap out "sweet potatoes" w/ "vaginas" and this post would still work.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 121: How will you spend your days until the season starts?

Sweet potatoes: blech. Been puking them up since birth. Same goes for butternut/acorn squash. Instant reverse peristalsis.
