Big day tomorrow, doing an interview and a rub, see if I can get something started here.

Mashed sweet potatoes as a side for pork are a great alternative to applesauce.
Why would you use them as an alternative? Why not have both with the pork chops? :p

Pork chops without applesauce = blasphemous.

I hear ya, but making and mashing sweet potatoes is a little easier and quicker. I don't always feel like making my grandmother's applesauce, particularly during the summer months. Once you've had a good, homemade applesauce, the jarred stuff is like Beast Light.

BPH: I was shocked I got to make the joke. Figured someone would've beaten me to the punch.

I've never had / don't remember having homemade applesauce - I blame this on all my grandparents being dead fairly early in my life. So the store bought crap in a plastic container works just fine. Come to think of it, I don't think I've had sweet potatoes either. My standard pork chop combo is to have chops with mashed potatoes, green beans, and applesauce. Pretty simple meal to throw together.

Is that code for a rub and a tug? Are you working for an Asian massage parlor now?

My mom used to get the jarred stuff, and then add to it - cinnamon and sugar, that sort of thing. It always tasted just fine to me.

Blech to applesauce. But I will agree that the vegetable of choice with pork chops is green beans.

Always gotta be different, don't you? :p

Hey, I liked the green beans. They're phenomenal if done right, with the slathering of butter and a touch of salt.

Frozen or fresh work well - canned suck balls.

BTW, what'd you think of the recent pic of the ward clerk?

Canned veggies suck arse. I like the Steamers (frozen veggies) line that Bird's Eye (?) puts out.

If it's the frozen that you have to put in a bowl and nuke or whatever, I usually put some butter in there before cooking it, so it really seeps into the vegetable.

And meh.

I think that's what most people do.
Wow, you must really have it bad for that girl in Colorado. :p

Not saying she's meh. That pic is nothing spectacular, though. :p
