Mornin' Loj! The weekend is here, so they tell me.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 120: How do you want to die?

Grrrrr..... my foot is a bit swollen up. Was pulling a water tank that sits between fences out so I could dump it out and clean it, and I managed drop it on my foot. Was only about half full.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 120: How do you want to die?

And, to whom that guessed it was the WBC thread, you're right. And I appreciate the lovely sentiments from Commie and ol' Prince Albert in here last night. Charming young men, aren't they?

Here's where I'd post an image of a baby crying, but we can't do that in polls.

Like I said. Not PASSIVE. AGGRESSIVE.

Nope.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 120: How do you want to die?

For those of you keeping score from home here is a little update on little g.

He continues to make progress. He walks 99.9% of the time solo and without his walker. His stability/balance continues to improve. Comparing his walking ability now versus 3 months ago he has made dramatic improvement. If he happens to fall he can now get up on his own without any assistance. Just a month or so ago he would require some help to get on his feet. People who have not seen him for a month or so are just amazed by his accomplishments.

Speech is slowly coming around. People who are not around him much have a difficult time understanding him. However, speech is getting better and better all the time.

A couple months ago he asked me "dad, who made me?" Followed up by "dad, why did you make me?" Those two questions literally brought tears to my eyes as I/we are not sure about little g and his cognitive ability and questions like that keep me optimistic. Pretty impressive questions for a 4 year old I think. After the passing of a friend last month little g saw that Mrs. g was crying. After we explained to him very briefly what had happened Little g said " don't cry mom he is an angel now."

Holy crap! What a little trooper!

My boss's 3ish month old is having some major health issues as well. I'll spare the details, but he's going to need brain surgery fairly soon and there are serious concerns of permanent "issues" as well. My boss is a good guy, I wouldn't wish this on him in a million years.

Life is a cruel, cruel thing sometimes.

Thanks.

Yes life can be cruel. There is not a day that goes by that I wish I could do something to change things for little g. It is difficult to explain as there are so many emotions at play. However, it is what it is.

Below is a peom that kind of puts things into perspective for me. (I was at a function in Minneapolis not to long ago. At the conclusion of my deal I read this poem. f an a I had a difficult time spitting this out.)

I am often asked to describe the experience of raising a child with a disability - to try to help people who have not shared that unique experience to understand it, to imagine how it would feel. It's like this......

When you're going to have a baby, it's like planning a fabulous vacation trip - to Italy. You buy a bunch of guide books and make your wonderful plans. The Coliseum. The Michelangelo David. The gondolas in Venice. You may learn some handy phrases in Italian. It's all very exciting.

After months of eager anticipation, the day finally arrives. You pack your bags and off you go. Several hours later, the plane lands. The stewardess comes in and says, "Welcome to Holland."

"Holland?!?" you say. "What do you mean Holland?? I signed up for Italy! I'm supposed to be in Italy. All my life I've dreamed of going to Italy."

But there's been a change in the flight plan. They've landed in Holland and there you must stay.

The important thing is that they haven't taken you to a horrible, disgusting, filthy place, full of pestilence, famine and disease. It's just a different place.

So you must go out and buy new guide books. And you must learn a whole new language. And you will meet a whole new group of people you would never have met.

It’s just a different place. It's slower-paced than Italy, less flashy than Italy. But after you've been there for a while and you catch your breath, you look around.... and you begin to notice that Holland has windmills....and Holland has tulips. Holland even has Rembrandts.

But everyone you know is busy coming and going from Italy... and they're all bragging about what a wonderful time they had there. And for the rest of your life, you will say "Yes, that's where I was supposed to go. That's what I had planned."

And the pain of that will never, ever, ever, ever go away... because the loss of that dream is a very very significant loss.

But... if you spend your life mourning the fact that you didn't get to Italy, you may never be free to enjoy the very special, the very lovely things ... about Holland.

Welcome To Holland

But enough about Marquette.

Wow. That is moving. I can see how you had a hard time getting that out.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 120: How do you want to die?

aaahhh!
The secondary mortgage company won't do the mortgage until the septic is replaced, we were hoping they would allow us to use an escrow, and close before the work has been completed. We don't think we'll be able to have the septic done by the end of September, but I need to close by the end of the September to get the tax credit. :(

Now it sounds like our plan will be to buy the house with cash from my dad's credit line, so we won't have to have the septic fixed by the closing date. Then after the septic is done and the bathroom is finished, I will get a mortgage and buy out my dad. At which time, I will be able to get a mortgage based on the appraised value instead of the purchase price, so I might get out of PMI completely, hopefully.

This is just an incredibly huge pain in the ***.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 120: How do you want to die?

It amuses me how seriously people take this "rep" thing here.

Speaking of, I haven't been negative repped in months (probably because I posts less frequently now that PC is awful).

I hate you all! Everyone sucks except me!!!

Just wait until the process to replace the septic is started only to find out that the house is built on a toxic landfill........:D

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 120: How do you want to die?

If "heart attack from eating so much bacon" was an option I would have picked it.

At that point I'd probably just cut ties with this house. :p
