Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 120: How do you want to die?

Have you found how to get to the user cp yet- I can't get there from here:mad: I have a droid 2
Yes, the first thing I did was download Steel from the Market (at the suggestion of a poster on a Droid forum). Steel is another version (free, BTW) of the web browser that allows you to change settings so that the browser loads normal websites, not mobile pages. Once you're in Steel, go to the menu, select settings, scroll down and change User Agent to Desktop. There are also some other settings I changed. I suggest skimming the user help that comes with Steel, it explains how to bookmark and set homepage and that kind of stuff. It is pretty straightforward.

I had to bookmark it on my iPod Touch:
http://board.uscho.com/usercp.php

Other useful links:
Cafe Polls:
http://board.uscho.com/forumdisplay.php?f=20
http://board.uscho.com/search.php
http://board.uscho.com/subscription.php

The subscription one may come in handy more because (at least on the iPod) every thread you post in on your mobile gets flagged as a subscribed thread.

Which is sort of handy because you can load your UserCP up and see which threads have new replies (of the ones you post in on your mobile).

Yes, the first thing I did...

NMUKat's Droid Eris has an option to go between mobile web and regular. She has hers set to always view webpages as regular. Is that option non-existant on the X?

I didn't even try before I googled it. The forum that I found said to download Steel, so that is what I did. I didn't use the regular browser on my BB either, but that was just because I didn't like the way the regular one worked, because it did have the option to view as normal websites. I'm assuming that the X doesn't have that option on the standard browser, not that it matters, Steel was free and took 2 minutes to download and setup.

Gotcha.

As far as I know, the Droid browser isn't crippled, it's just Google Chrome branded as generic "Internet." In the limited time I used her phone, the browser worked pretty much like Safari for the iPod. Except she was able to force regular webpages. And view (limited) Flash animation.

Stupid Apple product. :D

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 120: How do you want to die?

What are you baking?

I just tried making kale chips and wound up burning them. Oh well; at least I know how to make red beans and rice without screwing that up...

Hey SB, I just had occasion to speak with the executive chef here at Chez Shot about tonight's dinner offering. It's whole wheat penne pasta with zucchini, fresh herbs and lemon zest. Fresh blueberries and rapsberries for dessert. I think I may have heard a mention of chocolate almond lace cookies. Possibly an adult beverage as well to begin the proceedings. Bon appetit!;)

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 120: How do you want to die?

So, the impending arrival of Hurricane Earl has forced the cancellation of our family trip to Cape Cod this weekend. Well, temporarily. Mom called the hotel and cancelled our Fri/Sat/Sun stay but said we might go down Saturday afternoon, after the storm has passed. The hotel told her that they should have plenty of rooms. Personally, I feel this hurricane will last all through Saturday, as it won't hit North Carolina till Friday morning. We shall see what happens.

S'upp y'all

Summer traffic is gone :(

This. Apparently no one knows how to drive in the Twin Cities anymore.

Sucky. A coworker of mine was just heading down that way - his daughter is getting married in NC - and I hope his travels go well.

Evening, Lodge. Glorious day here, and I have the day off tomorrow, so I'm having a beer. :D

Sounds wonderful!

Unfortunately, a brief power outage here meant having to postpone red beans and rice until tomorrow. But at least I made my own almond butter with maple syrup and I also made my own tortilla chips. Cut some corn tortillas into eighths, laid them out on a baking sheet, drizzled olive oil over the top, seasoned them with salt and pepper, and then baked them in the oven at 350 for 13 minutes.

I want to live near you. Then I could eat amazing food.

This. Apparently no one knows how to drive in America anymore.

FYP

Got back from Aspen last night. Yeah, apparently I still have my hookup at the Jerome. 125 bucks to stay in a room that costs 330 bucks. And the manager told me that I'm family and will have that rate forever.

Sweet. :)

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 120: How do you want to die?

Morning!

Where can I buy some affordable ($30-60) brown shoes? Preferrably not dress shoes, but also not sneakers.

Summer casual dress is coming to an end at work and dress shoes are too uncomfortable to wear every day for the next 9 months.
Well, since you don't drive, that narrows the list a little. Your best bet is to hop on the train, take it down to the MOA, and hit up the DSW store there. Their prices are right around most other stores - when those stores have sales - but DSW usually has a larger selection.

Doesn't Marshall's in the City Center sell shoes? I've not been into one of those in a coon's age, but they usually sell stuff on the cheap.

They do. I'm particular on shoes, since I only own 2-3 pairs for everything. My loafers were bought at Marshall's, and they are multi-purpose. Dress/casual/whatever.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 120: How do you want to die?

To those of you who were discussing my events of late, here's an update (and unintended rhyme).

Sunday night.

Mmmm..... WANT!!!!

As always, you have a standing invite come to Allendale tomorrow night. Should be a heck of a game, as long as the weather holds. Bring the chips!! ;)
