Okay, well, uh... candlesticks always make a nice gift, and uh, maybe you could find out where she's registered and maybe a place-setting or maybe a silverware pattern. Okay, let's get two! Go get 'em.Question for you lodgers.
I've been trying to think of a good gift for my buddy and his fiance for their wedding, and the wedding is tomorrow. Last weekend he told us about their honeymoon plans, they're coming down to "the big city" for a week, going to a Twins game, eating very well, etc. He mentioned specifically that he wanted to go to Fogo one night. A couple nights ago one of the roommates was helping me think of something to get them and she suggested just getting a gift cert. for Fogo, since I already know that they want to go there on their honeymoon. Good idea, or should I not get a gift certificate for a wedding present? I don't know these things....
Yeah, I don't want to get some crappy present like that, that my buddy is going to hate. I'm friends with him afterall, so I want to make sure I get them something that I know he will appreciate (unlike a bunch of the stuff they will probably get).Okay, well, uh... candlesticks always make a nice gift, and uh, maybe you could find out where she's registered and maybe a place-setting or maybe a silverware pattern. I don't think they are registered anywhere down here, they live in BFE northwest Minnesota.Generally gift cards/certs are frowned on for wedding gifts. I think there are cases where they are acceptable - young couples with nothing moving into a new place 1,000 miles away will more appreciate a Target (or similar) card than some pretty glass bowl that they have to lug with them and will never use. Not sure about your case. A gift card may be OK, but I'd rather get them an actual gift. Are they registered anywhere?
Aren't you a NASCAR type? Of course that would sound like a good time then.![]()
Blame ctf. She informed me via text a couple days ago that she was on her way there, complete with a 1.75 of Captain.Ugggghh.... NASCAR. Race weekend at MIS this weekend and I had to go by the Track earlier today. The Camp Grounds are already filling up fast.
One of the only wedding gifts I still remember (this was in 1995) was the meerschaum pipe and box of cigars my buddies chipped in to give to "us". My wife was amused at this - she didn't get much use out of that gift, after all - but really, if he's a buddy of yours, I would go this route, something you know he wants. He'll remember it.Question for you lodgers.

They probably already have those though....There's nothing wrong with cash or gift cards - it gives them the flexibility to get what they need, and it saves you the hassle of *'ing with the stupid gift registry.
... or you could just by them a set of handcuffs and a pair of edible panties.
Question for you lodgers.

I had one of those 25 cigars every Sunday night, and now they make up a very fond memory of my first six months as a married man.
