Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 118: BoredboredboredBORED

The high-schoolers working the register at the grocery store told me Inception was a good show.

Good morning, partiers! It's a big day in history.

9 August 1945: Maj Sweeney & crew, flying the B-29 "Bock's Car", drops Fat Man on Nagasaki, Japan.
9 August 1974: President Richard M. Nixon officially resigns at 1200 Eastern.
9 August 2009: My Alaskan Malamute was born somewhere in West Texas.

9 August 1920: My mother (RIP :( ) born in Aschaffenburg, Germany. She would have been 90 today.

bbdl - congrats on the house!

tyler shot 58 over 9 holes and won the "under 13 junior" club championship today.
Great job!

Errands here as well. Need to decide what I am making for dinner. I want something healthy after a week of vacation but it is da mn hot here and I don't feel like heating up the kitchen!
Pasta salad with fresh veggies and chick peas is on the menu here tonight. No cooking at all since we made the pasta portion of the salad yesterday.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 118: BoredboredboredBORED

I just came from the winder on the paper machine where the printers have been acting up. I'm soaked. I have to wear "business casual" to work and now I'm wishing I had a change of clothes with me.
The guys at the winder love it. They see me dressed in khaki's and a polo shirt and sweating like a pig. They're wearing shorts and wife beaters and since they're in that heat all day (12 hours!) they're mostly used to it. Plus they actually work for a living and are in decent physical shape :o

I sweat just thinking about sweating. ;)

Yesterday in 320land it was hot/humid. The crazy part is that the sun wasn't even out. I can't imagine how nasty it would have been if Mr. sun had shown up. It didn't take long for me to break a sweat.

Congrats to bb_dl on the house!

Congrats to Tyler on the golf!

les - chicken breasts and corn on the grill so you don't heat up the house!

Flying to Milwaukee today and driving down to northern IL for an interview tomorrow. If we get on the list we'll be in line for a lot of government work over the next several years (working for the agency that Bakunin and Twitch work for).

Got the lists for the soccer tryout results. Two of our players got promoted to the higher team as expected. We'll miss them as they are not only good players, but good kids with good parents. :( Added several new players to the program so at least we won't struggle for numbers like this past season (18 on roster versus 15 this year). They also dropped our team from C2 to C3 - the right decision since we only won two games all season, and now we'll be without our two best players.

Just back from the market. This is probably it.

I'm thinking BBQ pork chops are going to be on the grill at the Hammer Palacial Estate this evening.

Careful, they're working on I-94 from the Mitchell Airport (MKE) all the way to the Wisco border.

Plus the usual Illinois tollway construction on the Edens. And the Illinois idiots who can't drive.

Made some good progress this morning. Now I need to run the engine this afternoon to see if I'm getting cylinder pressure data on the data acquisition system. Hopefully its working, if its not it will be pain in the *** to troubleshoot. If all goes well I can leave grand forks tomorrow morning. (no matter what I'm not leaving tonight. I have the hotel for one more night and I want to stay in the suite again)

2 things.

At least I'm not in Moscow right now.

And

I think a Denver recruit was eating lunch at the table next to mine. Heard him tell his friends that it was a choice between Boston College and Denver and he decided he didn't want to move out east. Also said he didn't want to go to UND because they had too many d-men signed and he was worried about playing time. Now I want to figure out who he is.

You should have given him a Michigan Tech flyer.

On second thought, decided that stuffed peppers were too much work, and so I'm making a whole grain pizza, loaded with veggies.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 118: BoredboredboredBORED

Some kind of chicken, a potatoe salad and veggie to be named later.

Spending the afternoon digging thru the dead people (as Lil calls it). Was going to scan some pics in that I need to return to someone and can't find them. Everything is way organized tho. Can't imagine where those pics got to:(

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 118: BoredboredboredBORED

Going out to eat tonight, some fried seafood of some sort or maybe some Mexican, haven't heard the final destination yet:D

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 118: BoredboredboredBORED

Tonight for dinner on this hot muggy day......Chili. No not really. :)

Not sure what is on the menu but it will be something grilled. Fruit and corn on the cob are the sides for sure.

Taking tomorrow off to spend with little g.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 118: BoredboredboredBORED

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 118: BoredboredboredBORED

Home sweet home after 3 months out on the ocean and touring Europe. Got home last night around 5 after sticking around NYC for Saturday to see the Yankees/Boston game.

I was selected from ~200 seniors to steer the ship in from the anchorage, then swapped with another senior at the statue of liberty, very cool honor that I'll remember for the rest of my life. Our captain then introduced me and 2 others to the head of the selection committee for the NY pilot association, which would be a tremendous job opportunity in the future if I can get accepted into their apprentice pilot program once applications open in Jan 2012.

It was a pretty uneventful trip, I'll give a nice recap of the 5-6 places we visited in a couple days hopefully. Now its time to relax for 2 weeks before RA training begins on the 22nd.
