I...Speaking of the inlaws I could take the rest of the day updating the Lodge about the latest developments regarding these clowns.............

We're bored, please do:p

Just changed my ISP from Satellite(wildblue) to Motorola canopy wireless. Very nice not to have some much latency and some real speed. Plus its cheaper:D One of the drawbacks of living in rural Maine is no real broadband, not even DSL

Yeah sometimes you can luck out with someone right out of school. But I agree I wouldnt want to take the chance either.

I am in the same camp as you guys. When I get married my only big ticket items will be the photography and a cake from the Konditor Meister. After that I am thinking maybe in a park with a rather large outdoor BBQ?

plus we just love her photography. No posed crap. None of the shots of relatives standing for 20 minutes trying to get that perfect shot. None of that crap. It'll be fun spontaneous stuff.

We're doing a brunch to cut down on cost, followed up by a bar reception that evening. No stupid food that no one wants to eat. :D

That is the way to go. Nothing I shoot is posed, except the formals. Which I have managed to get down to 30mins tops, with another 10-15 mins with the B&G, which there is very little posing, mostly I just let them interact and take my shots from that. I might say. Go sit on that bench, or go fly this kite, but that is about it.

It is far more relaxed for the B&G and me. And it makes for faaaaar better photography. People relaxed and happy.

I think its why sports to weddings was not really a difficult transition for me. Find the action, antipate the action, be read for the action. Its not like you can ask someone "Hey could you score that FF game winner again, I was busy playing with my camera settings, cause I a knoob".

( I was going to dig up the Denver game winner....which is that really the last FF I have been too, sadness!)

And table shots, NO ONE CARES PEOPLE, do you really want a picture of me eating. The only reason I cant get couples to completely ditch the formals all together is the older generations will pitch a fit.

Looks like you made a real good choice.

Brunch--that means bacon, right??? :D

I'm with both of you on skimming down the formals. One would think you'd want more pictures of the actual event, and fewer of the staged ones. Besides, the most fun shots usually come from the reception, right?

You'd have to ask Hokydad...he's the resident area clown expert.

Do you really want him arguing about the status of RPI players with GLM?

Actually, I kind of do...

The last wedding I attended was very unique. For starters the ceremony and reception was in a cave (St. Paul). Very classy event though. The food was awesome. They had stations set up throughout the cave with neat, interesting and delicious stuff. My favorite was the mash potato bar. (Fill martini glass with mash potatoes with all the fixings you could imagine.) My second favorite item was the bacon wrapped bacon station. :)

I tried to get some staff members to show me a cave or two that went deep into the center of the earth. My plan was to coax the mil to go spelunking but I was unable to get any cooperation from staff members. ;)

Having the bride and groom kissing in the doorway to the inn (a beautifully restored barn) during an evening blizzard is the way to go.

Wait, every wedding doesn't have those features? Hmmm...

Every family wedding I've been to has featured snow. Granted, one was in February, and one was in December (Legal's recent ceremony, from which the photo described above comes). The other? May 18th! I am a little worried about my cousin's wedding at the end of October this year...

The photos people love are the ones that are moments that happen naturally. Even while shooting the formals, the photos people like out of that, are the ones of people goofing off.

It had better not snow! We're driving back from Lynah to go to that wedding and it would be a hell of a drive in the snow!

Replying to him got old.

Reporting him, however... That never gets old.

And that, is as good a round of golf as I can play. 37-38-75, four over par, from the blue tees on a course measuring 6,498 yards, par 71 with a 71.1 rating and a slope of 125.

I hit 11 of 14 fairways; hit all four par threes with my tee shots; made two birdies and missed another one from four feet. Absolutely crushed it off the tee all day long. Apart from the short missed birdie putt, and perhaps one iron shot, there were no shots I'd like to have had a second chance to hit. And one-putting seven greens certainly helps.

Played with three great guys--none of whom I knew--but all of whom made it easy to play good golf. A thoroughly enjoyable round of golf. :)

Well, we're driving back from NY the day before the wedding. Of course, I don't feel like driving around Mass in the snow, either.

So question to the fellow engineers in the lodge, What solid modeling programs do you use at work?

A piece of wood and a knife.

Oh... you said engineer. My bad. :o ;)

Evening, Lodge. A beer would be wonderful right now. Or wonderfuler, at least.

Several drinks would hit the spot right now. Why? Some thugs threw a cinder block and smashed the windshield on my family's only working car.
