I once got out of a speeding ticket because my dad did the cop's taxes.

I once got out of a ticket because I did the cop's taxes. Both troopers' taxes, actually. :D

Vacation is over. Back at the office. :(

Good morning tLodge.

So, this weekend was interesting. Saturday I was back at the doctor's office because my medicine was working and we couldn't tell if the contractions were just practice one or the real thing. Good news is they were practice and weren't affecting the baby. The bad news is I seem to be really prone to them so I should expect to be feeling them... a lot.

Sunday was an improvement, we started to figure out how to layout the kitchen. Mr. Hit has some additional cabinets he wanted to add to the kitchen so we'd have more counter space and storage.

While we were working on that, his sister stopped by. Apparently one of the neighbors had a grill out with a free sign on it. According to the sign it needed a regulator and they may be something wrong with the valving. We took the grill home, got it working, one of the ignitors is bad, but otherwise it works fine. We did some research online, turns out this was a $4000 grill when it was brand new. Mr. Hit no longer has grill envy. :D

Later that day we went out to do some shopping. On a whim I decided we should take the minivan. (I'm at a point now where my Civic is not comfortable for me to drive :( ) We pass a dryer on another front lawn with another Free sign. Yep, we stopped and picked it up. Our current one is smaller, older and not working right (needs a timer and a heater) so if this one is closer to working right, then we've done really well.

I <3 Free.

Free is awesome!

Dinner last night was free for me. Bf's dad is in town and took us out to Metzger's. mmmm. Though now I'm going to end up doing some free work for bf's dad. His company had a couple failures with a plastic part and the supposed 'experts' haven't given him answers on why. I'm going to take a look at it today while I'm at work, instead of doing my work. Puzzle solving like this is my favorite part of my job (I just rarely get to do it anymore).

In the meantime, boyfriend is fired (not really). He worked on his dad's car Saturday instead of going canoeing with my friends and I. So, I blame my sunburn on him. I couldn't find a cute guy to put sunblock on me, so I missed some spots on my shoulders. owww.

You know, first time I read this I thought you meant he was fried. That he worked all weekend and was sunburnt. And that you were temporarily dyslexic when you wrote that. Then I re-read, and realized you fired him for failure to be there to properly apply sunblock. :) Mondays - what are ya gonna do?

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 116: Who's to blame for the lack of a new thread this mornin

I had an apartment in boston's north end many years ago with two friends. They happened upon a "free" couch one day and brought it up the five flights of stairs. Coupl weeks later I ventured in and was knocked over by an awful odor (I had been staying at the gf's). One of the guys was laying on the couch with two bottles of Lysol at the ready and when I questioned the smell, he picked up both and sprayed and said, "yeah. It's been bad last couple days"

next day I get up and go out of my room to even worse smells. Other rookie is there eating b'fast and agrees it smells (!!!!?!). I look at the couch and ask if anyone has looked to see if something in there is the cause. He says "no" but gets up to join me in flipping it over. We see a small hole in the bottom and shake it. Out falls a dear rat that had complications during rat-birth. We both almost hurl and after wrapping a shirt over my face we grab the couch and run it down the five flights and dump it on the other side of the street.

I now avoid free stuff.

I won't take free upholstered furniture because of a fear of bugs. An outdoor item or something that is going to sit in my basement, not so much of an issue. (and now, the city actually warns students away from taking used furniture for that reason)

Toronto was pretty awesome. I don't think it's as interesting as Montreal, but I loved it just the same. I can't imagine what it's like being there during hockey season. Probably more depressing but exciting just the same. :D

This is the grossest thing I have heard in quite some time. That's just plain nasty.

If you didn't mow the lawn so badly, it'd look better and might not have to be mowed so often.

I am in the early stages of forming a non profit with the intent of building a baseball field for children/people with disabilites.

If any of the Lodge members have an extra $100k or so sitting around feel free to rep me.......;) :)
