Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 115: What sports do you watch in the off-season?

Here at the SOx game with dad. Gorgeous night for a game. Dice K pitching like crap. Not the reason for this post.

So, we have seats 5 and 6. When I get to the seats, a lovely older couple is sitting in seats 7 and 8, I can tell from listening to them it's their first trip.to Fenway. Anyway, top of the first, this couple comes into the row. When in front of/passing by me the guy says to the couple "we have 7 and 8 but we'll sit in your seats 9 and 10." Instead of immediately them "No, we have 7 and 8" the husband says to the wife "don't we have 7 and 8?" She pulls out the tickets and I glance over and see that they do.

I wanted to nicely tell them to tell that other couple they were incorrect because when the people who actually have seats 9 and 10 show up, they will be standing in front of me and my dad while it gets straightened out.

Sure enough, the people with 9 and 10 show up, get stuck in front of me and my dad while the conversation takes place to figure out where that second couple is actually supposed to sit. Turns out they were supposed to be in seats 7 and 8 in row 3. We're in row 4. Thankfully all this happened between innings and not while the game was going on. Why can't people read the row and section numbers that are pretty clearly marked???

It's better than what happened last year when UNH played at Minnesota. RockTheWhitt and his parents were sitting in the second row of the visitors' section, when a couple came over and informed them that they had those tickets. After some discussion, it was determined that both RTW's parents and this new couple did, in fact, have tickets in that section, in that row, and in those exact seats...for the previous night.

So, not only did they not read the date on their tickets, but the ticket takers didn't either!

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 115: What sports do you watch in the off-season?

there was something about this in the news the other day. some woman was walking her dog in JP section of boston the other morning and saw some "construction worker" wizzing. she went over and yelled and him and he turned to her and kept going... on her leg and foot. she ran away and called her husband. he went over and took a pix of the pee dude with his phone and they got him arrested.

yucky. :(
She wouldn't have had a problem if she had kept her nose out of it. Clearly, if had started to pee and she marched right on up there to him to give her a piece of her mind about it, and he was still going, the dude really had to go pee.

That, and perhaps she was just jealous of the fact that men do pee standing up. ;)

Ah, frick, it's July again...

yep......

THE LAST BALE IS UP!!!:D

Hey Gonzo - why does a chicken coop always have two doors?

'Cause if it had four doors it'd be a chicken sedan! :p
:)

Please keep the fingers a-crossed everyone.
Will do.

I (and PB, I suppose) got the loan!!
Congrats!

Ah, frick, it's July again...
Yep.

Good morning, Lodge. Took my reading, writing, and arithmetic assessment test for Baker yesterday and totally bombed the math test. :o Thankfully, I have the option to test out of math, but I'm gonna need help to pass that test.

Ah, frick, it's July again...

this "should" be a good month... I start improv comedy lessons and kickball. On the other hand I still have to show up to work and drain myself through this awful project (my peers at work are in the same boat).

Morning!

Happy last day of the work week for me. :)

I hope LeBron signs today so we can stop talking about it on TV every 4 seconds.

After running a few early morning errands and loading the car, The Shots will be mountain bound. Have a happy and safe Fourth of July weekend. See you next week ladies and gents. :)

Morning lodge, I hope everyone has a safe and happy Fourth of July with their families and friends. :)

Please also remember during this time we celebrate our independence, to remember those who are currently serving and sacrificing. Their efforts ensure that we are able to continue to enjoy the freedom's earned by our fight for independece so long ago.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 115: What sports do you watch in the off-season?

Which is great in theory until you see the reality of what the hospitals actually get paid by the insurers and medicaid/medicare. They have to keep their costs down.

Math lesson:

MNA has a little over 12,000 members. Every $1k in additional salary and/or benefits per nurse they extract from the hospitals will cost $12 million+ annually.

One of the main points of contention is patient-to-nurse ratios - the union wants a lower one, and they want it contractually guaranteed. Guess what this means? If the hospitals agree to it, they have to hire more nurses - a lot more nurses (if it was an insignificant number, this wouldn't be such a contentious issue). Assuming they need to hire 1000 more nurses, that works out to an annual cost of $40 million plus that will increase over time(if they hire all entry-level ones).

So if the union gets what it wants, the hospitals' cost of doing business could easily go up $100 million per year. Chump change, indeed.
Can't speak for what is out there but the ratios here are so bad I was scared when I was admitted a few months ago. I hear horror stories from pts and nurses alike. In our state the BON has decreed the hospital can force overtime and if you refuse you are abandoning your patient so you can put yr license at risk by working unsafe and tired or not working, protecting the patient and have the hospital file against you. End result is understaffing and overworked nurses. UGLY scenario.

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE!! thirsty thursday is here.

Please keep the fingers a-crossed everyone.
in a knot.

I (and PB, I suppose) got the loan!!

Congrats. Now start feeling better and go pass all your classes!

Also, did I read a post from you awhile back stating I'd need to get to Toni's (that's the name...right?) before 5 on Saturday or stay until Monday? I want a pasty darn it, and I'll only be in the Keweenaw Sunday. And my friend who grew up in Calumet tells me those are the best. I've had them but boyfriend has never had a pasty. This makes me sad.

Why can't people run their businesses based on my schedule?

Happy Thursday Lodge! Hope everyone enjoys their holiday weekend.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 115: What sports do you watch in the off-season?

Morning, Lodge. Gotta run to the hardware store to get some drain cleaner before I can take a shower.
