Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 115: What sports do you watch in the off-season?

FYP.

Afternoon, Lodge. Beauty of a day outside, though still plenty humid.

oh, and i finally graduated - only 5 years late, but eff it, i'm done. until grad school. :o
Woohoo! Congrats!

for running, I do fine until the low 90's...then I slow down a lot. Cycling, I like it to be in the mid-80's or lower. If it gets to the mid-90's or higher, I move my workout indoors or wait until it gets cooler.

Last night, Quiz and I went for a run in the rain. Totally awesome.
For running, I do well until the low-80s; I excel when the temps are in the high-60s/low-70s.

Evening, Lodge.

w00t!! yay for you!

Have had an interesting weekend. Need to back up my files. (no space left on the lap top. Got a Toshiba Hard drive. 1TB. If you are considering doing that don't. It backed up everything to an unrecognizable set of files and took hours. Got on line and it turns out hundreds of posts with the same complaint. (didn't find those when I was shopping:o )Then it wouldn't let me disconnect without threat of wiping the drive. Had to return it.:(

Got a net book:D Haven't done anything with that yet except hours of updates.

Got a new hard drive. About to embark on the back up fun again. This one is like my last one. Hopefully things will be smoother. I hate technology!

The weather can stop now. I do need to sleep at some point...

St Clair County confirming one dead for a wind event, although it will take a NWS damage survey team to confirm whether it was tornadic or straight-line. No watch in effect, and no warning was issued. It came after today's "main event" by around 3 hours. Broad-scale rotation was present on radar, but no evident velocity couplets, which are a good indication of lower level rotation.

People who cry about tornado warnings being issued when there isn't a confirmed tornado on the ground can blow me.

Tell that to the Commie. He says a tornado didn't touch down near Stewartville, MN (by Rochester) because the NWS didn't have a report. I had live reports from on-duty officers.

Glad you're ok!

It's entirely possible for a tornado to be confirmed on the ground by reliable sources (and not all spotters/LE officers/firefighters are reliable), and have that report not make it's way to the NWS. Either that report never made it, or the NWS discounted it based upon what they were seeing on radar.

And I'm always okay. It's my job to be working during these events, and my office is in the basement of the Sheriff's Office. We're fairly secure from weather threats ;)

Exactly.

And I usually am. If I don't take cover, it's my own darn fault, and I know this. :o

You'll know it's time when the glass starts breaking, right? ;) :)

The sirens let me know when to go outside. Because that's when the sh*'s about to hit. ;)

Yeah, that looked pretty **** scary there when I saw it on the news. Fifth wheel trailer and mobile homes all flipped over like that, one sitting in the pond, scary stuff.

Not cool at all. Too many incidents lately involving severe weather and campgrounds. People just don't think about how they could be exposed to these elements when away from home, much less how they can prepare themselves to deal with it. In that light, I'm not sure that a warning for that storm today would have prevented a single injury or the fatality. It's just a sad situation.

That, and those places are in flat, open areas.....that's trouble.

Yeah, none of those trailers were even anchored to the ground. at least with most Mobile Home Parks, they're at least have a cable into the ground to keep em from flying off to Oz to land on some unsuspecting witch. Those things..... Not good at all. And I kinda doubt that there was a storm shelter there big enough for everybody to get into there if there had been a Twister with a Warning coming. They're still pretty lucky to have just one death out of that mess.
