Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 114: Who gives a...

Mornin' folk'lls. Glad it's Friday. Let's hope I can make it through it.

It does to this one. It's that great. A big part is because it's "about 98% true" according to the real Henry Hill.

One of my fave quotes in an interview (paraphrased):

Interviewer: So, is that Spider thing true? Did Tommy really shoot him? Where is he buried?

HH: Yeah, Tommy shot him. He's buried in some backyard in Pennsylvania.

You should read the book Wiseguy; it's both phenomenal, and gives a greater appreciation of the movie. They definitely changed some things (Henry didn't hang out with Tommy all that much, and Paulie's family was bigger), but it doesn't ruin the movie, just gives you greater insight into the story. (It's a lot like reading "The Godfather" after watching it a bunch.)

G'mornin' Loj! Is it the weekend yet?
No. And it isn't the weekend yet today either:(

@Monster - Massages are awesome. I haven't had one in about a year, but you just feel so unbelievably relaxed - muscles move the way they haven't in a long time. Some day I will get them once a month. *wistful sigh*
I get them but it is the thing that lets me be gainfully employed. No massage= not being able to wrk because my neck is so screwed up.

I've not heard much, but I think you might actually like Opeth.

I can give you some suggestions...
 The popcorn comment probably wan't one of them....

It's gone from a team game to a pieces game. Successful teams nowadays usually have the guy who drives the lane, and a big guy. That's it. Like a shell of Phil's triangle offense (which is brilliant, btw). And despite it being a non-contact sport, there's an awful lot of contact that is let go. It's sad.
They can run people over like a truck with no foul and the next play someone's fingernail grazes the player and tweet! Foul. Stupidest. game. ever.

I just can't bring myself to give a crap about the WWE/NBA. The games are just so boring. I suppose I'd rather watch it than soccer, but ... I'd rather watch linoleum curl than watch soccer.
I would watch football (soccer) was what I lived for when I was in England. Georgie best was sooo cool. Bouncy ball and linoleum are about equal.

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE!! friday is here. is is night time yet?

Survived the Track party and the hoard of kids. I think they had a great time. Ate like locusts but still had left over food. Never had a party that people ran up and down my very steep 80' driveway multiple times just to say they could do it.

Morning Lodge.

The last 2 weeks of work have been pretty crazy. I've been working on an engine for about 7 hours a day, and trying to get my normal work done on top of that. It would have been much smoother if parts and test equipment actually worked, so I didn't have to spend hours troubleshooting. Almost done, and then I move the whole project to the customer site, and start again.

Really looking forward to the weekend. Anyone interested in going to Back to the 50's on Saturday? Or at least going to Porky's on University at about 8:00 Saturday night? :D

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 114: Who gives a...

G'morning everyone! I feel like a teenager this morning. I got up to eat breakfast with the full intention of going back to bed for a couple of hours. :o But I thought I'd pop in here while eating.

I'm looking forward to the weekend. Tomorrow I get to watch my oldest niece in her first dance recital. She's a student at the studio I used to work/teach/take lessons at. Good to see her continuing the family tradition!

I don't hate basketball as a whole, I just hate the last two minutes or so of every game. Partly because, unless you were getting blown out by that point the game could go either way, (so why bother playing the other 46 or whatever minutes) and because the stupid clock stops every time the ref blows the whistle.

While living in NC, I got to watch a couple of college games. One of which was when the local college was in the Elite 8. I watched the game at the student union on campus and the atmosphere was about as charged as it would be at UNH for a hockey game. Their union has three floors, we (I helped as I was dating one the staff members at the time) decorated the entire union with balloons and there were TV's everywhere including a 7 or 8 foot wide screen on the main floor. The place was filled with students and townspeople. Even though the school lost (by one or two points) it was the best game I had ever seen.

Pro hoops on the other hand... blech. I saw more NBA games that season (I worked at the arena) than all of you put together. :p At least I was getting paid good money to do so. :)

Woot! Managed to pick up our (me, 'ewe, and the Hits) present for my dad tonight, without having to spend an arm and a leg for a customized NFL jersey. I just hope it fits him. :o
What size did you get? Dad isn't exactly a large guy, so I think a medium or large would fit just fine.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 114: Who gives a...

I'm pretty sure the last 9 minutes of the NBA game last night took > 50 actual minutes.

That should never happen in any sport.

I own that book. :p :D

Isn't 8pm running it a little late? Don't you want to get there before half of MN does? :) Last time I was there, I went through two full tanks of gas. :o

Good point. :p

I'm guessing that my buddy is going to be there with his '69 vette convertible (since he can't actually get into Back to the 50's). I'll Drive the Ram. :D

Good morning, Lodge!

Has anyone seen 17 Afghani soldiers wandering around anywhere? The Air Force would like them back.

Makes me glad I watched Burn Notice and Royal Pains last night.

Good morning, Lodge. Waking up at 4:35 AM sucks...

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 114: Who gives a...

I just accidentally found out my Father's Day gift, alighting upon our online bank account (damm this internet banking!): a box of twenty Sancho Panza double maduro cigars (6.5" x 48 ring).

Best wife ever.

Good Morning, Lodge!

I wish it was 4pm already. I am running the department today and in reality, I feel like I am running around with my head cut off. The plus side, I have been here for a little over a month now and they trust me to run the deparment.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 114: Who gives a...

So I picked my girlfriend's bass up from the shop (got the nut replaced. huh huh huh) and dropped off one of my own to get a real setup job done. The shop owner gave me a t-shirt.

Mmm bass.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 114: Who gives a...

Good morning. Even though I had to do a few things for work on my day off there is something more fun about doing it at home. :)

Goodfella's is awesome. See this kid, never deliver mail to his house again! :D I should read Wiseguy, sounds good.

CC to Scarlet: Mission accomplished!! Stunned silence  followed by intense smiling :) :) with lots of "wows" & "cools"  sprinkled in for fun! Thank you!!
