No offense to Shirtless, 'diva, Geist, and all the others who enjoy it, but RUNNING SUCKS!

which is why I'm doing weight training... and considering your size I'd think it'd be a good idea as well. I mean, villagers should fear you by any right :p I forget your exact size... i know you and kingdobbs are about the same size... nearly around 6 feet and built big.

BPH, how exactly did they * up your oil change (re: rep)? Isn't that supposed to be the easiest car-related thing a place can do (other than maybe rotating tires)?

Some punk kid apparently broke the oil pressure sender while he was tightening the filter, but they didn't tell me when it happened, and I didn't discover it until a mechanic pointed it out. It physically broke in such a way that road debris couldn't have done it, it wouldn't have broken from use, and I didn't go under the car between oil changes. I'd had to wait about 3 hours for the oil change anyway, so the Tires Plus guys probably just assumed I wouldn't ever notice. When I went back to Tires Plus, they offered me free oil changes to make up the difference, but I'm never going back to reclaim them - they've given me *tty service in the past too.

For tires, I go to Discount Tire. They have at least as good a selection, a very good replacement plan, and the guys there haven't tried to pull the wool over my eyes.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 114: Who gives a...

Speaking from someone whose brother worked at Tires Plus, unless you personally know the guy working on your car, don't take your car there. Ever.

Way too many hacks work at that chain.

And before the peanut gallery pipes up, my brother wasn't one of the hacks. In fact, he is one of the top mechanics at a local dealership right now.

Exactly.

Amazingly enough though, the local Valvoline Instant Oilchange place is actually very competent - a youngish Hmong guy runs the place, and he really knows his stuff. Pricier than Tires Plus, but $10-15 extra is worth it for peace of mind.

What a bunch of ****suckers.

If my car requires another costly repair/maintenance thing within the next couple years, I'm replacing it. There's no reason for me to be spending $2k a year on this **** before it hits 100k miles, particularly when I could probably trade the *'ing thing in and get a better used car at a net cost of $2k-4k.

It'd be nice if there was some sort of site that you could enter your location and it'd list all the car repair places - along with customer ratings within X miles of where you live. It's really a crapshoot trying to find a competent car repair place.

Did the blinker fluid reservoir spring a leak and ruin the hood lubricator?

Same here with my local Valvoline. I think the guy is South American, but he's been there for years, and won't BS you, and takes really nice care of your car.

I used to go to a place in Columbia Heights - Heights Tune & Lube. Never been B.S.ed by them.

For regular mechanical work, I go to the Circle Pines Muffler Doctor - good shop, but they don't do oil changes. In Houghton, I always took my Jeep to the ex-AMC dealer south of town. They also did very good work, and a lot cheaper than around these parts.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 114: Who gives a...

For any repairs, I (and most of my family) take our cars to a place in Brooklyn Center. Last time I was there, I think it was a 3 man crew, non-chain, and they have about a month waiting list.

Never BS ya, good prices, and I remember one time they felt they "took too long" to find a problem (it was a simple fix that they never thought of) and charged me half of what it would normally cost.

The villagers wouldn't be scared very long when I could only run a short distance before getting winded.

I started running partly because 'ewe did, but also because it's really the best cardio workout you can do to burn fat/lose weight (which is also why it sucks). Most importantly, it's free. I have some weights, but no bench, or real place to use them. To actually do weight training, I'd need a gym, and I'm not paying for that right now.

What did you do now?
Roomie's BF show up with a few of his Hell's Angels buddies?
FYP, diva. :o
You want a boy or a girl?
I think one hit on me earlier. I was ironing clothes in my room with the door closed, listening to music. She knocked on the door walked in and said "I just wanted to say hi before I left, so hi", smiled and walked out.

I do all work on my vehicles unless it is warranty work or machining work (boring out the cylinders, etc).

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 114: Who gives a...

I just have my oil changed by the dealer. It doesn't cost me any more than the local Valvoline place and they know to replace the crush washer on the drain bolt so it doesn't leak.

For repairs, I'm not really sure what I'm going to do. Now that I am in New England, I figure most routine repairs/maintenance, I'll get Theex or a mutual friend of ours to do when I am in NH. They really are the only two mechanics I trust. (aside from Mr. Hit, but he really doesn't have the facility to work on the Civic and he has enough to do). Though, we do have a friend who is the service manager at a Toyota dealership, so I might think about taking the car there. (it needs brakes)

The hot one, or the slightly less hot one?

I'd do more of my own work if I had a better machine shop, and if it wasn't my sole mode of transportation. :o

Next step: hug and a tug.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 114: Who gives a...

So now that the plan could be working, bbdl is worried about it? Typical Techie.

If he can kick the bf's ***, he has nothing to worry about...

... unless the bf is a member of a gang and brings his friends.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 114: Who gives a...

Blaine Auto Body has always been good to my family for more major repairs. Once, they screwed up when and ripped the window tint on my mom's car. They knocked half of the price of the labor (long repair) and re-tinted the windows. They even went to 35%, which isn't legal in Minnesota.

Hey, he's got us! Ok, nevermind. Somehow a bunch of Foopers and 2-3 actual tough guys doesn't really scream "intimidation."
