Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #112: Son of "Filling in for the night shift"

Who the heck is Angel Sanchez? He must have just been called up as he has a .000 average. Which will stay that way as he grounds out weakly to the pitcher.

Top of the batting order for the Sox. McDonald does nothing. Pedroia up. Balls. Four of them. On base with a 2 out walk. And it's festive Latin music again with VMart up! He doubles down the line! More festive Latin music! Let's see if Youk can bring them home. OMG!!!! Three run homer!!! Lowell up with the bases empty. He flies out to deep left. Great inning. 4-0 Sox. Time for ice cream.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #112: Son of "Filling in for the night shift"

Congrats, HuskyNation!

Evening, Lodge. Great day at work, but the commute took an hour longer than normal. Facking I-35W construction shut down 3 lanes each way of an 8-lane interstate.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #112: Son of "Filling in for the night shift"

Sorry for the delay. Had to eat my ice cream. Didn't miss much. It was a kind of uneventful 4th. With the exception of Liriano's wild pitch. Why aren't wild pitches considered errors, especially when it allows a runner to advance? When I take over MLB I'm changing that rule.

Anyhoo, Morneau leads off the top of the 5th with a double. Stays put as Cuddyer grounds out. Huh. The Yankees tied...wait, Tampa just took the lead back. Crap - who was just up for the Twins? He just flied out to right. Pedroia makes an AWESOME catch on Delmon Young. Morneau stranded at 2nd. We've played 5 1/2 so it can pour now and the game will be official!

I have to say, this game is motoring along nicely. Last game I was at it took an hour to play the 1st inning.

GE-who says I'm sober? I did go out for my Thursday post work beverage. Only had one though, so yeah. I guess I am sober. I did ask hottie bartender if he wanted to bag out of work and join me.:)

Pedroia flies out to short right so you know what that means! VMart and the festive Latin music! And he doubles off the green monster! Yet no festive Latin music. They actually played "Doin' the Butt." Tha('s ...odd.

Youk up. There is no wind at all. He doesn't need it as he doubles down the left field line, bringing VMart home!!! And forces Liriano out of the game.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #112: Son of "Filling in for the night shift"

Jeff Manship in to pitch. Based on the picture on the scoreboard, he has a very thick neck and very white chicklet teeth. Probably a bad photo. Regardless, he gets Lowell to pop up to third. And we're done with five here at Fenway.

Brendan Harris leads off the top of the 6th. Thru five, Lester's only thrown 50 pitches.

Wow, the Yankees tied it up at 4.

Harris strikes out. Punto up. Pedroia with another great play and there are two outs.

Denard Spam up and he also grounds out to Pedroia. Eight pitches for Lester. That was efficient.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #112: Son of "Filling in for the night shift"

Now Bill Hall is up. Um, where did he come from? I know he's been playing a while but I have no idea who he is. Whatever, he does nothing, inning over.
I believe he came from Milwaukee, and is, in fact, merely Mike Cameron's shadow.

I have to say, this game is motoring along nicely.
Indeed. I am loving the recap as I take a break from housework to have some dinner. No more NESN here, so I have to get my Red Sox action via alternate means.

Evening, Lodge. With Scarlet providing Sox PBP, who needs ESPN?

Got the staples taken out of my arm today and the doc still wants me to take it easy for another month. Oh well; tomorrow morning, I'm leaving for Chicago... :)

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #112: Son of "Filling in for the night shift"

Just saw a Kirby Puckett shirt. I always liked him.

Tampa takes the lead back in the top of the 5th, now 6-4.

Beltre lines a double down the third base line to lead off the 6th. Third Sox player to do that tonight. JD Drew grounds out but moved Beltre to 3rd. Bill Hall now up. Ha! He was in an episode of The Young and the Restless in 2007.

Wild pitch and Beltre scores from 3rd! That should be an error, I'm sorry.

Hall pops up to right. And the stupid Fenway fans try to start the wave. I hate the wave.

Just Call Me Angel of the Morning Sanchez up with the bases empty. Lines to second, he drops it but recovers to throw Sanchez out.

We're thru six here at Fenway. And it's not even 9pm!

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #112: Son of "Filling in for the night shift"

Oops, sorry. Misses whoever led off the 7th. I was trying to answer the trivia question. Name the 5 active player on today's roster that were on the 2004 world series team. I got Varitek, Wakefield, Ortiz. I know Embree is back with the Sox, is he on the roster? Can't recall who the other is.

Lester strikes out Mauer and Morneau and it's time to stretch!

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #112: Son of "Filling in for the night shift"

Greetings from Fenway. What a gorgeous night for a game. There's lots of Twins fans here tonight. 1-2-3 for Lester. Sox coming up to bat.

Since it's just me here tonight, I think I'll provide you all with my play by play.
I got out of class early (7:45) over at Simmons and almost called, but I have a final that I should study for tomorrow. :(

Hey! Mike Lowell in the line up over Ortiz. And does nothing sadly. But Beltre hits one into the Sox bullpen. 1-0 Sox.
Lowell has been spouting off a bit and is unhappy that Papi has been starting over him. Not surprised that he's in the lineup (I assume that Terry wants to keep everyone happy...)
Thirded.
Denard Spam up and he also grounds out to Pedroia. Eight pitches for Lester. That was efficient.
Tell me that is his real name!?!!!

Well, follow the doctor's orders!!!

Back from Microbiology class. We spent the evening talking about biofilm and touched on the Raw Milk movement, Botox, and putting silver nanomolecules in catheters to cut down on staph infections in catheters. Pretty awesome stuff. Created some plates of E.coli and micrococcus to grow over the weekend so we can separate and plate them next week. :)

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #112: Son of "Filling in for the night shift"

Jesse Crain in to pitch. Top of the order for the bottom of the 7th. Mcdonald hits the first pitch off the pitcher and is safe at first with a single. Pedroia pops out to right. And that brings up VMart and the festive Latin music! He's 2 for 3 tonight. Still only hitting .243.

Fenway organist plays some ABBA asthe catcher goes to talk to Crain. Love it.

Tampa now up 7-4.

Just noticed VMart battingf lefty now. And doubles to the @esky Pole and knocks in McDonald!! That juuuuust landed fair.

Youk up with two on. Let's see what happens. According to the scoreboard he's batting .339 in night games. He's batting .326 so it's not like they should sit him for day games. Youk grounds out.

Lowell up. He'd make a case for himself if he got a hit here. Good crowd support for him. He flies out to 2nd. Sigh.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #112: Son of "Filling in for the night shift"

I don't even like baseball (yes, go ahead and stone me), but I like Scarlet's pbp.

I'm having a drink. It was a long day.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #112: Son of "Filling in for the night shift"

Who the hell is Joe Nelson? He was the 5th player. Youk was the 4th. Got the other three.

Cuddyer leads off with a double. Next batter grounded out, Cuddyer to third. Delmon Young up. Flies out to right, Cuddyer makes it home. Now 6-1. The floodgates- they've opened. Single by the nxt player. *sigh* I'm heading out after Sweet Caroline so this inning needs to end now. Strike 3 on Punto called a ball. Crap. Strike 3!!!!

Lowell has been spouting off a bit and is unhappy that Papi has been starting over him. Not surprised that he's in the lineup (I assume that Terry wants to keep everyone happy...)

Which is pretty funny, as Lowell's version of "spouting off" is so low-key that if you aren't paying attention, you might actually miss it entirely. The interview almost sounds like he's talking about someone else.

Journeyman. Managed to get drafted 3 times (gotta love the MLB draft). He apparently pitched a couple of innings in the middle of the '04 season while Malaska was out (I'd forgotten Malaska was on that team), and was called up this year when Beckett went on the DL.
