'Morning, Lodge. I've been playing hostess for the last few days, and it just keeps going. There's one more person showing up sometime today, then FM's arriving here Thursday night.
It's hot here, too. It's not supposed to be like this here!

S'upp y'all...

Tell our clients that mr valentine has set the price on pork bellies! :D

Morning Lodge

2) They're like c/d's.

Your boobs are round, shiny and flat? (oops, someone beat me to that joke :o )

What is it with you Midwesterners and not knowing how to drive stick?!

Hey! Put away your broad brush there missy! My wife is from your neck of the woods (NE PA) and SHE'S the one in our family who doesn't drive a manual transmission auto (see how I didn't say she can't drive a stick, 'cause, you know. ;) )

Evening, Lodge. Steak for 2 on the broiler after enjoying a jog with the bf this afternoon and doing some studying and mending.

Is that what the kids are calling it these days?

ETA: Hi winger, I see you found the appropriate reply to a post from ASAAG.

Hope you get better news on the shoulder Wally!

The Dr said 9 months before its fully healed so I got a ways to go. Its really not too bad right now. In the last month its gotten exponentially better. My range of motion is good, its the bone spur he took off that's causing the pain.
He also said MRIs aren't the word of god, unless its something obvious an MRI is only 70 or 80% correct. An MRI of something small may or may not be what he finds once in there with a camera. I was under the impression MRIs were gospel, I guess not.

Interesting. I thought (assumed?) MRI's were solid as well. At any rate, glad you're on the mend and remember to take it easy.

Good morning, Lodgers!

It's an exciting week here at USAFA, kicked off by the Thunderbirds arriving for their airshow practice. I'm surprised there were no accidents on I-25! Graduation day is tomorrow, and about half of the 1,001 graduates will go on to pilot training, and most all of them (flying or not) will see time in either Afghanistan or Iraq.

Godspeed.

The bf jogs?!? ;) :p
Indeed. The bf even urged 'ewe to get out and jog yesterday. He's also trying to eat healthier - given free range to select a menu for Friday night, he chose a nice Salmon filet, rice, and sugar snap peas (with no butter).

(Saturday and Sunday's meals weren't quite as healthy, but baby steps.)

100 is hot out. 90 is summery. 80 is warm. Well, to me at least. :p
Ugh. Play wiffle ball at work with a guy like you. 80-90 degrees out, and he's all "It's beautiful out here!" Meanwhile, I'm sweating just walking out to the field. He's like you - scrawny. Of course, he also spent the early part of his life in Texas. Still though, that's just not right.

He does now - we're doing the Couch to 5K program together. :)

I'm just surprised that the midwesterners that seem to pride themselves on independence are unable to drive stick.

Yup - put on some sneakers and go outside and move your legs quickly. Actually is quite fun.

Morning, Lodge. Drama filled morning - should have stayed in NH.

I don't count Michigan as the midwest. Its in the eastern time zone, so it is the east. So Twitch's inability to drive a standard transmission does not fall on us!

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #112: Son of "Filling in for the night shift"

I'm starting to get the feeling that my work place is an extension of the University of Michigan.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #112: Son of "Filling in for the night shift"

I want to know what independence has to do with manual transmission. Most cars are made with automatic these days, and I have no intention of learning manual unless I splurge a few years down the line and get a $100k Porsche. :p

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #112: Son of "Filling in for the night shift"

They have stripes on their hats? ;)

no, they've let a pack of feral wolverines loose of the main floor :p There seems to be enough University of michigan people to get me feeling "ok, starting to get weird". Not that things don't concentrate like that... Penn State, Maryland, etc.

The first truck I drove was an automatic. I was 8 years old, I couldn't reach the clutch in the other truck. :p
The first truck I drove regularly, on the road was a Ram with a 8.0 liter V10 and a stick. That was fun.

Because if you can drive a manual, you can drive any car/vehicle. No restrictions = true freedom.

One (not you, but someone), might want to go to Europe some day and rent a car. My understanding is most European rental cars are still manuals. That would be independence.

kinda true
Just because you can drive a stick in an automobile does not mean that you can drive a stick in an 18 wheeler. That is a completely different animal. Double-clutching, clutchless shifting, 18 speed-3 range transmissions....

Correct - gotta understand the concept (and successful deployment) of a splitter. When I was driving yardbird tractors we never got into gears high enough to use the splitter, but once in a while, on night shift, we'd take them out on the streets and really drive them. :)
