Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #111: Filling in for the night shift

Oooh, I am jealous. Really, I've wanted a soft top Wrangler since I was in high school. But I couldn't get around the gas mileage issues. (until now, hmmm...)

Well, to be honest, ever since I lived in a place that was at least 40 minute commute from work at best (this was around 15 years ago or so), I made it a point to be near where I work. My longest commute since then was 15 minutes, my shortest has been about 3-4 minutes. :D

Secondly, my old car (The Blue Torpedo, a Chevy Corsica) was broken into and the dashboard was beyond kaput, except to a mechanic nut. And it happened in early Sept, so with winter coming up, I kinda needed a car with heat/etc. Like, immediately.

Lastly, one of my buddies pretty much told me, "If you can afford, why the *ing doubts? Just buy one." :D

So I did. If I lived farther away from work, that would probably have made a difference, though. I mean, as it stands now, in the last 10 years I've put maybe 65K on it.

For an extra $50.00 I can make sure the MIL takes out the dentures. :p

Evening, Lodge. Mom's back to speaking in coherent sentences again after her seizure; they're also going to put her on Depakote (sp?). At any rate, I'm hoping this is the last hospital stay for a very long time.

And I forgot how good a slice of greasy pizza can taste when amongst friends. All part of the "real food" I'm going back to...

Beer goes great with this weather. :D

Good luck to her! And by "real food" you mean "sandwiches", right? ;)

Also, in regards to tires, I have Michelin LTX/MS tires and love them. Not incredibly aggressive, but they bite snow well and last darn near forever.

Evening, Lodge. Long day at work, but the weather was glorious. Days like today make me wish I didn't have to sometimes wear wool at work. :o

I loved them in My Cousin Vinny. ;)

What a great evening, bugged out of work a little early and watched a friend's son's HS ball game.

Little g is doing great and thanks for asking. He has a great attitude and the smile to prove it. He will be four on Thursday. Where does the time go? (Personally/selfishly his birthday comes with a mixed bag of emotions for me. On one hand it was one of the greatest days of my life but on the other it was one of the worst days of my life. Thinking about that day brings both smiles and tears. Hard to explain.)

I am planning to update his caring bridge site in the next couple days.

Regarding little gII.........he is a pyscho. :)
Heh about the gII. Glad about gI

I've been known to put close to 65k on a car in one year! When I lived in NH, I was working right outside Boston. We didn't want to move and I didn't want to change jobs, so the car suffered. Now my commute is 0. I think I'm putting 100 miles a week on the car. (only because the pizzeria is about 25-30 miles from my house)

LOL!

Bob - home your Mom keeps improving and gets to come home soon!

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #111: Filling in for the night shift

Aren't you glad I encouraged you there, dear? :p

Another beach day in Houghton! Yay!

It was pretty much only the lack of bathing suit up there that kept me from finding a beach up there the last two days. I made do with lots of biking and reading outside Flashy's apartment.
