hey Legal, how far is Greensboro from where you live?

That's where I'm going to be based.

First, to answer your question, right now it's about 2 hours away (I live on the far side of Charlotte), as of June 8th it will be about 11 hours from me.

What does that mean for your living situation? Do you have to live near the airport you are based out of?

He doesn't (there's a story of a NW pilot based out of Detroit that lived in Tel Aviv), but it all depends on how long he wants to commute before a trip, or when he has to sit reserve (IMO, this would be the annoying part...going that far "just in case")

That's what I thought.

SG - According to Google maps the airport in Greensboro is 2 hours, 112 miles from my house. If there is no traffic, it can be done in less than that, as it is almost all interstate and the speed limit is 70 in some places.

I do have friends on the north side of the city which would cut at least 30 minutes off of the trip. Plus, the friend I'm thinking of live north of the worst of the traffic, so he might even be more like just over an hour to the airport. I'll check around and see what I can find. When will need a place? I'll have to check with Robbie, but may have room here in a couple of weeks, until we close on the sale of this place. (in other words, even though we are moving in June, we'll still own the house for a while longer).

While that's a nice side benefit, I'm thinkin' it's not worth the crappy hours, smell and heat. I'll stick to my shredder.

Other than getting up early, I don't have to work those long hours. And (might be a "guy" thing) I like putting on all my safety gear and going to the hydrapulper and throwing shi4 into it.
One qualifier is you have to look at the conveyor feeding the pulper before you approach it. If there's a bale about to drop into the slurry and you're standing too close, you'll get splashed on and that stuff is really nasty. It's actually something they do to new employees as a sort of initiation

And they at least had the decency to wait until a Friday when I had jeans and a more casual shirt on.

I'm glad it happened, since it gave them a reason to give me grief and I was more accepted.

I'm reaching conundrum status at this point. I have to move out of my place by the end of the month, and the house I'm trying to buy is still hung up in the cluster**** of a short sale process. There is basically no way I'll be able to close by the end of the month at this point. So I have a pile of stuff that will have no where to go and no place to live.

I have a couple options:

Haul everything home, live at the parents until I can get a place of my own. Negatives, hour+ commute, dad is already mad that I have too much crap left at home. Positives, it is cheap and there is no lease or anything to sign.

I could also get a storage unit to put my crap in and still live at home.

There are plenty of rooms to sublease at this time, with students leaving for the summer, so I could rent a room for relatively cheap for the summer, and still probably stuff most of my stuff in a storage unit. Advantages being that I'm closer to work and I won't be locked into a lease for longer than August. The disadvantage is that I'd most likely be on campus, which will end up being a cluster****, somehow, someway. I would also consume way to many Burrito Loco burritos and most likely be drinking in Dinkytown every night. Probably not the best situation. However, I could win the sweepstakes and end up with hot college-aged roommates.

The smell depends on what kind of paper mill. Maine has a few that when the wind is in the right direction will knock you out. Verso, the mill near me, no odor outside the mill ever.Probably the cleanest mill I've ever been around. Others look like toxic waste dumps, See Lincoln Maine mill, brutal even on the grounds around the mill.

They just made fun of a LaPanta and Woog Gopher intermission segment on Sports Soup on Versus. I like that the only time I've ever had the channel on Sports Soup, they talk about Wooger.
