Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #108: Let's see if we can finish this before the Frozen Four.

"Down the tubes -- hear that one a lot. People say, "Ah, the country is going down the tubes."

What tubes? Have you seen any tubes? Where are these tubes? And where do they go? And how come there's more than one tube?

It would seem to me, one country, one tube. But is every state all of a sudden have to have its own tube now? One tube is all you need. But a tube that big? Somebody would have seen it by now. "Hey Joey! Get a load of these *****' tubes!"

:D

you sir, are not amusing :p

The main reason Santa is so jolly is because he knows where all the bad girls live.

Good morning, Lodge. I will be decked out in my Sioux apparel all weekend (not like that's different from any other day)!!! Although it would be easier if it was cold out...

Hope all is well with everyone on this Friday morning. :)

For the first time, I just posted something I thought would get a neg rep, and sure enough, it has.

Kind of liberating, if you ask me.

Good morning. Took off yesterday afternoon and all day today. Why? It's about me and my dream of doing nothing. :) Plus, the lad & lass decided they wanted to change rooms & I thought I should be here to referee.

Plus I have almost 8 weeks of vacation I have to use this year  and on top of that had a couple comp. days to use before the end of next week.

If I had that much vacation I'd definitely work 4 day weeks all summer, every friday off!

Mornin'.

RS36 row 3 is not as cool as it sounds. I get half the ice and a bench.

CC to mookie: you let your kid out in public looking like that yesterday? I should have called child protective services on you. ;)
It was nice to meet you.

The Lord of the Manor has to work and meet up with classmates today, so the boys and I are lounging around the house until he gets home, then downtown.

Hope everyone has a nice Friday!

You saying I ain't? :D Monday's too, maybe. :)
The only time I really had planned going into the year was a two week road trip in July (Kiawah!) and some time in March for the hockey tourneys and St. Paddy's day.

I get five weeks a year, which we now get on Jan 1. We used to be able to "bank" up to twice what we earned but the pencil pushers decided that was bad so we now have to use it all in the calendar year. Since my situation was murky going into this year I refused to take any more time last year so I had a couple weeks banked (would have received a lump sum if I had been voted off the island) going into '10. Plus we everyone got 5 personal days this year.

I only get 2 weeks, plus 2 floating holidays, so 12 days. I get it lump sum on the 1st of January, so that is nice, but 12 days isn't very much. I end up using it all on sports trips (Fridays off for a weekend hockey road trip, Twins day game next week, NFC championship game trip) and 3 days in November to take the whole week of Thanksgiving off for deer killing. After next year I'll get a 3rd week, which will be welcomed with open arms.

We get roughly the same here for vacation, but we can carry over up to two(?) weeks that have to be used before the end of March. I've only ever carried over a couple days in the past. I think it might be more this year. Don't ever let your employer purchase another bank. It's a real pain in the *.

Tacky & Abrasive sold its bank about ten years ago, probably a good thing considering the past couple years.

I don't think my employer will ever be buying a bank. Sounds like that is a good thing.

Stayed home from school today - still not feeling well. And it's a good thing I did as they're here to install my new washer and dryer to replace the ones that were flooded in the storm (The dryer worked fine, but the pump on the washer motor got wet and wouldn't pump the water out of the washing machine). YAY! Now I'll get to do some laundry before I head out for the weekend!

Good morning Lodge.

I watched a little bit of both F4 games and I agree with previous posts that yesterdays games were pretty pathetic.

Not sure if this was brought up or not on the telecasts but is it me or did the ice surface look like shiat? Any discussions on TV from players or a coach regarding the quality of the ice?

gmann, you have mail.

I don't think it was the actual tubes that you could see. I'm thinking that because the tubes are running there the ice got more frost or opague for some reason. I would have thought that the cooling tubes were closer together than that, we always hear about how many miles of tubing are under a sheet of ice (5 miles according to this company http://www.berg-group.com/IceRinkChillerSystem.htm), and there wasn't miles of tube if those lines represented the tubing.
Towards the end of the second game they showed the tubes (PVC pipe) carrying the freon from the rink to the truck (parked on the street a good distance away and 45 feet higher than the ice surface). They also showed the tubes going under the ice and explained that the white streaks were where the tubes ran.

I saw something earlier in the week the looked like aluminum planks being set up. I guess these are what the tubes go through and help disperse the cold to the ice. That would explain the streaks and the lack of "miles of tubing".

The ice didn't appear to be bad on TV. I didn't notice any really blatant problems with either the puck or the skating in general. Those streaks bothered me all night long however.

GE, My wife works a four day week [Tue-Fri]. In my job I'm able to set my own schedule, and consequently, I often work longer hours four days a week so my wife and I can take three day weekends [Sat-Sun-Mon]. We take Mondays because we find that when most people "cheat" to take a three day weekend they take a Friday rather than a Monday.

My wife and I ski often and play quite a bit of golf as well. We have found that in ski season the slopes are less crowded on Monday than Friday. Traffic headed back to Denver from ski resorts is significantly heavier on Sunday evenings than on Monday. In summer, golf courses charge lower greens fees on Monday than on Friday. In short, we both feel setting up Sat-Sun-Mon three day weekends is preferable to Fri-Sat-Sun three day weekends.

Having said all that, let's cut the crap: the reason you took today off is the extended Happy Hour at Drunks R Us. Bottoms up!:D
