bring two checkbooks.
my old company used to manage money for children's hospital and we would always send a foresome to the RMcD House charity outing. they would have silent and live auctions for stuff. one year they bring out a box of cuban cohiba churchills. mike dowling was always the MC and he picks up the box and says, "$500? that's too low. let's start the bidding at oh, $800." some guy raises his hand and nobody else moves. he says kinda loudly that he can't believe he is getting this for $800 [ah, buddy... innernet?!?!]. so as dowling says, "going once, going twice..." i life my hand and say $900. dude is in shock. bids $950. dowling again looks around... "going once, going twice, going.." my hand goes up, $1050. dude again yells immediately after $1100. people are laughing. my co workers wonder what's wrong with me--but not that much. after all, they've seen me come to work in bib overalls for jeans day. dowling comments how he likes when there is bidding and looks around. i'm silent. he again goes, "going once, going twice. .." and paused to look at me. i'm still.. he starts, "going..." i raise my hand and say, $1200. dowling is getting annoyed. other dude is very annoyed. i, though, am enjoying myself...knowing that i aint getting stuck with this box at this price and dude is at any moment going to say.... "$1250!" which he did.
dowling looks at me with a flat look. i tell him i think that is enough for RMcD House, doncha think.
then i went home and bought a box of montecristo #2s at cigarone.com for $300 or something.
I'll email you tomorrow with the info. And just warning you - it will be a bidding war.

So... as a 23 year old that's been out of school for a while and working for most of that time... Should my parents still be filing me as a dependent under them?? Doesn't that screw me over a little bit when I file my taxes and such??
Or maybe I'm just clueless and it's a really good thing??
Edit - I just got sent this text from the guy that does my taxes: Student loan apps will still use parents income for three years after u stop claiming them as a dependent either way.
What the crap? My parents do not finance anything I do, nor have they since I graduated high school almost 5 years ago. Ugh, I'm a little frustrated right now. That's all.
