Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 105: 2010 Assessment

[whiny rant]So, I tend to bring my lunch every day. a) Because I'm cheap and b) because I'm a picky/plain eater and I know what I like, etc. I did not bring lunch today because we were supposed to take someone out for a birthday lunch. I was watching the weather last night thinking "I should probably just make my lunch tonight as who knows if we will even go out to lunch because of the rain." But of course I didn't. And of course, I get the cancellation notice as soon as I get in to the office today. I hate spending money I wasn't planning to on something I really didn't want. [/whiny rant]

I have so much work to do this afternoon.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 105: 2010 Assessment

Good luck!!

I can't even imagine a UVM/Maine final either. Who would I root for? On the good side, if that does end up being the final, I won't be upset when I can't watch it at the restaurant because the pumpkin pushers have taken over the TV.

At least you can root for BU with 'Ewe. (She is coming back to Boston in time for the tourney, right?)

I like ewe but I don't think I can go that far. I was all for VT but the UVM trolls showed up in the our thread and I would absolutely love for them to have to choke on thier words. I like wally and if Maine wins it all then I could reconcile that we lost to the best team. So, I guess it has to be Maine. Besides Maine fans have suffered this yr.

I have recently started bringing my own lunch regularly, mostly to save money, but also to avoid going to fast food places/eat healthier. On days that I forget, or don't have anything to bring, I usually just go to Subway and get a $5 footlong, then save half of it for the next day. It works out very well for me, and only costs ~$2.50 per day for lunch. I will occasionally splurge and go to Chipotle for lunch. :p

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 105: 2010 Assessment

Maine, why would their be any question about that:p
If you have to ask... :p :D

In certain parts of the state of MN/ND flooding is a big concern this time of year. Below is an excerpt from an email I received from corporate HR.

Not many employers will allow their employees to take time away from work with pay and without using PTO to help others. One of the numerous reasons why my employer is so awesome.
I remember you mentioning this last year, I don't suppose your company has a branch/office in SE Connecticut. :o

They can't go out to lunch because it is raining?!? Are they going to melt? Sorry, I don't get it. :( (ETA: So, I don't this the above post was a whiny rant. At all. :) )

I'm thinking that tCBG likes 'ewe a little more than the rest of us. :p :D

Personally, I have always had a soft spot for BU. If I hadn't moved to Charlotte, I would have bought season tickets there.

I can't root for Maine. IIRC, if I do that and it is not in a NCAA final when Maine is playing a non-HEA opponent I lose any and all rights to be a UNH fan. :p ;)

When I was at corporate, I'd go out to lunch all the time. Now that I'm in the middle of vast acres of potato fields and Xcel coal plant waste, I rarely go out. There's nothing but a McDonald's and Subway within 8 miles of where I'm at. Subway's OK, but even that gets old after a while. So I bring a lunch every day. More money in my pocket, less calories in my waist and I don't have to drive anywhere. The other thing is I cannot smoke on the premises, so I don't smoke all day while at work if I bring a lunch :)

Hopefully you'll find time for lunch today and then hurl when you read the following item. :D

2. The hunt for U.S. college free agents

The Toronto Maple Leafs signed Lake Superior State defenceman Simon Gysbers to an amateur tryout and he played his first two games for the minor-league Toronto Marlies over the weekend. The six-foot-four, 185-pound Gysbers, 22, is from Richmond Hill, Ont.

The Anaheim Ducks are on the verge of signing Northeastern University defenceman Jake Newton. The six-foot-three, 205-pound freshman is 21 and from San Jancinto, Calif.

The U.S. collegiate-player free-agent period is underway as teams get knocked out on the road to the Frozen Four. Other players that have drawn NHL interest include: Jarod Palmer (age 24, 6-0, 195), a forward at Miami (Ohio) University from Fridley, Minn.; Casey Wellman (22, 6-0, 160), a forward at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst from Brentwood, Calif.; Bobby Butler (22, 6-0, 180), a forward at the University of New Hampshire from Marlborough, Mass.; and Matt Read (23, 5-11, 190), a forward at Bemidji State University from Ilderton, Ont.

Well, it's still downpouring and windy - very stormy. Not just regular rain. You've been in the city and know what it's like to try and walk with an umbrella with a wind-whipped rain. You have to hold on to your umbrella like a shield.

Yep, you're right. I didn't think of that. :o

Easiest 'get' to the airport ever. Got up frommy desk in the pru ctr at 359p. Went to the garage under to get car. Drove around pru and got on storrow. Went through callahan. Parked B lot 4th floor. Elevator to ticket counter. Checked bag. Found niece sitting at legal's (other legal ;)) -time? 431p

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 105: 2010 Assessment

It's crossed my mind to sell my tix for this weekend (though I won't). I just really do not care about the rest of the season right now.
:( Keep me company. (Or stay home and make dinner. :p )
We, as in the les family, might be going anyway. Have to see.
Let us know - perhaps there can be a mini-meet-up (I should find out if Haunted is going, though I doubt it if his team isn't there).
I can't even imagine a UVM/Maine final either. Who would I root for? On the good side, if that does end up being the final, I won't be upset when I can't watch it at the restaurant because the pumpkin pushers have taken over the TV.

Ugh - I can't imagine a UVM/Maine final. I can't stand UVM (even prior to last year). Just *blech*. I'm certainly not a Maine fan either, though I am friends with a few, so I suppose I could be happy for them...

Yup - I will be back Friday morning/early afternoon (shooting for 1pm-ish).

Hey now! We're very welcoming on the BU Bandwagon! :)

Well, I hope so!!!  :p

:) As I said to les', anytime you want to switch over. I'll even buy a jersey for the little one...

Just got home from my internship (spending SB interning with the same PA I interned with over Christmas). :) Spent the day talking about poop and colons. It's surprisingly fun (and even occasionally silly), though not a field I am seriously considering pursuing. I do enjoy the interactions with the patients (we had a woman today who was incredibly uncomfortable talking about her bowel issues because "they aren't lady-like"...mind you, it was only the PA [a woman] and I in the room with her behind a closed door) and using the test results and patient information to try and determine the problem. Now, trying to decide what to make for dinner.

From bowel issues to "whats for dinner!" :p

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 105: 2010 Assessment

iPod Touch question.
So I'm seriously thinking about getting a 64Gb iTouch. I currently have the classic iPod without video so I've never loaded movies and/or TV shows. My assumption is I can load movies and other video on the Touch much like I can load songs and full CDs onto my iPod Classic?

In other words, for video I will not be limited to items purchased from iTunes.

Thanks!

I was going to say, unless your niece has four feet and is covered in fur, she is definitely not at my place. :o :p

You are more than welcome to buy the little one a BU jersey. However, you'll have to argue it out with Uncle tCBG whether or not she is a BU fan first, UNH fan second, or UNH fan first, BU fan second. :p :)

It all ends up in the same place at the end of the day. :p

Edit - legal- That might be an argument I end up losing. :o (But I'm sure I can come up with something persuasive...I've found some great recipes lately).
