Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 105: 2010 Assessment

I can't even imagine a UVM/Maine final either. Who would I root for? On the good side, if that does end up being the final, I won't be upset when I can't watch it at the restaurant because the pumpkin pushers have taken over the TV.
Maine, why would their be any question about that:p
I can't root for Maine. IIRC, if I do that and it is not in a NCAA final when Maine is playing a non-HEA opponent I lose any and all rights to be a UNH fan. :p ;)
Here's the way I look at it - root for Maine. They've been there before, and them winning another HE championship is like "Avatar" making another million at the box office. UVM would be winning their first, and we'd have to hear about it forever.

I'm thinking that tCBG likes 'ewe a little more than the rest of us. :p :D
True, but I've liked BU since well before I met her, so I'd be rooting for BU regardless (especially in a BU/Maine matchup).

From bowel issues to "whats for dinner!" :p
Proof that she's cut-out for that kind of work.

:( Keep me company. (Or stay home and make dinner. :p )
Oh, you know I'll be there. I'm just bummed about UNH (and their bleak-seeming future). Speaking of dinner before/after the games, I'm thinking cupcakes. :p

I do enjoy the interactions with the patients (we had a woman today who was incredibly uncomfortable talking about her bowel issues because "they aren't lady-like"...mind you, it was only the PA [a woman] and I in the room with her behind a closed door).
It's cute when women get all embarrassed about things like that. ;)

You are more than welcome to buy the little one a BU jersey. However, you'll have to argue it out with Uncle tCBG whether or not she is a BU fan first, UNH fan second, or UNH fan first, BU fan second. :p :)
No argument needed. UNH fan first, no question - it's in her blood! She can be a BU fan in the postseason.

Shirtless: my brother ate the meterwurst. And was still hungry.

That place rules (the Gasthof Zur Gemuchleikeicht, sp?). 1L of any beer they have? $10. 1/2L? $5. :D

Great atmosphere. Wish he did the snuff, though. That stuff rules.
That's the way I feel most days. So hungry I could eat a hippopotamus and still have room for dessert.

'Morning, Lodge. Freaking time change.
.

In certain parts of the state of MN/ND flooding is a big concern this time of year. Below is an excerpt from an email I received from corporate HR.

"With the threat of flooding again this spring, ********* is committed to providing the best levels of support possible to employees and affected communities. Knowing that conditions can change rapidly, the following may be helpful as managers and employees address the difficult tasks of balancing business, community and personal needs with the challenges that may present over the next few weeks.

Employees will be compensated at their regular rate of pay for volunteer work during their scheduled workday, as long as their absence has been approved in advance by management. Working more than 40 hours for the week, the employee is eligible for overtime.

Expenses for transportation (mileage) and meals will be reimbursed for employee volunteers during the scheduled work day as long as the employee’s absence has been approved in advance by management. In most situations, lodging expenses will be covered.

********* employees will be compensated for approved time off during their scheduled workday for volunteer activities or for protecting family homes and properties. Since business and environmental conditions can change rapidly, employees and managers need to stay in close contact. While employee participation in flood-related activities is encouraged and supported, it is not required."

Not many employers will allow their employees to take time away from work with pay and without using PTO to help others. One of the numerous reasons why my employer is so awesome.
Rock on.

When I was at corporate, I'd go out to lunch all the time. Now that I'm in the middle of vast acres of potato fields and Xcel coal plant waste, I rarely go out. There's nothing but a McDonald's and Subway within 8 miles of where I'm at. Subway's OK, but even that gets old after a while. So I bring a lunch every day. More money in my pocket, less calories in my waist and I don't have to drive anywhere. The other thing is I cannot smoke on the premises, so I don't smoke all day while at work if I bring a lunch :)
This. Why spend money when you don't have to? That being said, I need to find something else to bring for lunch other than a turkey sandwich on whole wheat. Demo people can't use the break room at Sam's Club any more, which means no refrigerator or microwave, and the cafe doesn't serve anything I would want to eat.

Evening, Lodge.

Not buying it. If that is the matchup on Saturday night, I am just going to ignore the game.

The rest of the season doesn't exist for me... I don't have the time and there's too much life to do. OK, that and I don't have NESN available to me and its NCAA hoops weekend at the bars.

Old fashioned way- Thermos of soup, stew, etc. Go out to the car and have a feast. Nice way to get away, have some nice music, read a book and eat lunch.

Hey, Plymouth coulda used you tonight!

While I was running some errands, on Hwy 55 by the Famous Dave's, there was a turkey just walking around on the highway. Well, for the most part he was just standing there.

Cars would just lay on their horns, Turkey Tom would look at the car, then continue to ignore everything around him. He really didn't give two sh*s about anything going on. He was enjoying the evening. I continue on.

About 1/2 hour later, on my way home, I see Tom STILL THERE. This time he was blocking the cross-street. I'm in the left turn lane on 55, watching the following unfold:

Car gets a green on the cross-street. Lays on the horn. Turkey doesn't move. Light turns red. I then see a cop car finally show up behind the first car. I just know they're trying to figure out how to move Tom (it was a rather large bird).

Light turns green for me, I make it onto the cross-street. Then the cops figure out a solution (get this!): turn on all their lights/lightbars and honk their buzzer-like horn. Well, all that did was get Tom to run away from the cops in a straight line.

So, the cop car tries to veer towards the curb, thinking Tom would too. Wrong. Tom goes back into the road. I literally stopped ahead and watched this continue in my rearviewmirror for a good 5-6 minutes. It was hilarious.

FINALLY, Tom gets the hint and ends up in the trees somewhere.

shoulda just gotten out a dinner plate and a large meat fork :p

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 105: 2010 Assessment

Dinner was grilled chicken, rice, and purple cauliflower. The human vacuum (my 17-year old brother) ate everything except the purple cauliflower - meaning he had tons of meat and carbs, not exactly the most balanced meal for a diabetic. :o . (I had made extra of everything to bring to lunch tomorrow.) Decided to roast some garlic, throw some shallots in a pot with the roasted garlic and the left over cauliflower; added some half -and half and chicken broth and viola! Purple cauliflower soup for lunch tomorrow. :)

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 105: 2010 Assessment

there was a turkey just walking around on the highway . . .

That's a hilarious story, man. I totally would've stopped, too. Then if somebody else had already stopped, you get like a Kevin Smith scene:
DSP: What's going on, man?
BRENT: There's a turkey in the road.
DSP: No kidding? Oh yeah, check it out.
BRENT: That cop's been trying to move him for about ten minutes.
DSP: 'laughs' They should just, you know, honk at it.
BRENT: No, they did that. Didn't work. Effing turkey's just chillin'.

Or whatever.

viola! Purple cauliflower soup for lunch tomorrow. :)

Man I love me some cauliflower soup. (With some roasted almonds chopped up and sprinkled on top . . . lots of black pepper . . . Yeah!)

What's up, Lawdj? It's Amateur Night on Wednesday; anybody braving the crowds?

You work there but they won't let you use the employee break room?? That blows man, really blows. :(

That would have been my solution as well. A big carving knife would have worked as well. :D
