Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 104: Back To Normal Sports

Sloe, I've been asked what something was that I've changed at a previous job, and how the affected the "company" overall.
I've got an interview w/ Wells Fargo, and have to set one up with Cedar Point.
Just got "hired" to write for the MTU newspaper, which isn't a huge deal, but I miss writing so I'm excited.

In other news, visiting my dad and the fam has gone fantastically. Last stop is row 17 on the red line at the Wings game tonight :)
Then, airport at 5:30AM to head to cheesedeerland and meet PB's fam.

SG - beyond suggestions others have mentioned I would also suggest you have references typed up and ready to distribute.

Also, if you're interested when my position here was eliminated I had the chance to work with a company that helps with job searches (resume and other such stuff) if you want the files I have let me know, some interesting self assessment type things. I will shoot you my email in rep.

Good luck!

thanks. Sending you e-mail now. :)

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 104: Back To Normal Sports

Regarding talking about weaknesses, I always try to word it so it sounds like it may not be a weakness. Like "I get too wrapped in projects that it causes me to continue working on one thing, when there are other tasks that also need to be done. I am working on manging my time better, prioritizing my tasks, and making a conscious effort to not focus on one specific project for too long at a time."

I've never done much for preparing for interviews, other than just going over stuff in my head. I can tell that it hurt me earlier on, but once I started getting more experience at school and during internships I was able to answer questions easily and I had examples for everything.

I just flipped someone from green to red for the first time -- feels very powerful. :) (Apparently the reason the BU Championship Team didn't get to visit the White House is the same reason that the President did not attend the Olympics, black people don't like hockey...  )

computers suck.

Try to fix one thing and several others break.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 104: Back To Normal Sports

'morning tLodge!

Yet another reason not to be up that *)@!* early in the morning! :p ;)

Seriously, I wouldn't mind being up around 7-7:30 each day, but between working until 10pm, (it usually takes me at least an hour to wind down after work) and trying to, (um, how do I say this,) bring another UNH fan into the world, I am sleeping about 10 hours a night. The doc says that this will pass in another couple of weeks and I will have some energy again. :)
:D

Also, everyone and everything that I read says be prepared to talk about a weakness. Aside from watching way too much hockey and always wanting to hammerpunch everyone, what should I say with that? Should it be work related or personal?
Never do a personal weakness. They don't need to know that. Do something that relates to your profession

I've read a book called Checklist for Success. It's a good read that walks you through everything of how to prepare. I'm also working on a word document that has my stuff on it. My likes, dislikes, my successes, my failures, etc. This is a pain in the *s, but I really want this *king god*mn job.

Really, do people ask you what your greatest weakness is though?

Because if someone says they have none they are in the circular file.

It shows you are willing to examine yourself and your performance. Lots of insight into what someone is like by how they asnwer this question. Agree with everyone else to present the weakness as something you are aware of and that you have considered what changes you could make. If they ask you what yr weakness is pertaining to this job you can always say that you are coming off an airplane and this is a new scenario- you realize there may be a learning curve and then point out how that learning curve will make you more flexible than someone who already has a set way of doing somehting from yrs of experience.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 104: Back To Normal Sports

as a hiring guy with not much knowledge of the position I'm applying for, do you think that it is my job to lose at this point?

And I always send thank you notes. Just a thanks for the interview.

Once you get hired just remember to always say the following and you will be golden. "Would you like paper or plastic?" :p

Lewsp - Re: your rep -- Thanks! We were keeping it low key until this week, so it's not something that anyone on the boards knew except my brother. :)

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 104: Back To Normal Sports

I need the lodge members to fire me off possible interviews. Help me out here people!
For the one with Air Wisc. (I know that Continental asks this)...

Say you get to the aircraft and the captain is wearing a skirt...what's your response?

I had it kind of figured out, but since you didn't say it outright I didn't say anything. Since it's out---CONGRATS!! :D

@ASaaG--thanks for the unintentional refill! willythekid got me, but your rep spreading an hour later refilled it :)
