Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 103: The Greatest Rep... to this point.

Quiz and I are Scarlet's ride. The end.

OK, so, I'm still talking in hypotheticals here. If the season ended right now at this very moment, BU would have home ice. I know it will not stay that way. Though it could. Hard to say. While they are my ultimate first priority, I can't not start looking into heading to the F5. It's the planner in me. The hotels are a concern. Trying to figure out my best bet here, if I go. If I go, I'd want to stay close the Xcel, right? Man, they are going whole hog with pricing with hotels in the area. No offense, but it should not cost me less to stay in Manhattan than St. Paul, MN. Not sure how the Holiday Inn that appears to be around the corner from the Xcel is already booked when the teams haven't been decided. Do you think it's booked with people who are expecting to be there and if their school doesn't make it they will cancel?

Also, if I go, I will most likely not make it in for the Thursday game. But I may fly in Thursday night. If I go. Only because one of the hotels I researched said they would only book with a three-night stay. If I go. Because BU is, at the moment, holding a home ice position.

Hope she dresses conservatively.

'splain please.

You definitely want to stay close.
The HI is across the street from the X and I would guess it is booked with FF5 ticket holders who will not cancel as they are going to the FF regardless of the teams who make it. What other hotels are you looking at?

The hotels are reserved for a couple reasons.

1) They plan to be there because their team is competitive. Teams like Denver or UND can make a safe bet that they will be going barring an upset.

2) People go to this event regardless of their team making it, much like the frozen four. Not to the same extent obviously. There will be some cancellations as teams get eliminated.

3) Locals take some of the rooms so they can just stay for the 3 days and not worry about driving home. I did that one year, and it was amazing.

Oh and lastly, its only 4 weeks away. :)

Denver earned four points against Michigan Tech this weekend, and while the Pioneers didn't play their best hockey of the season during the series, there were some encouraging signs as the WCHA regular season heads towards its conclusion.

The Rhett Rakhshani-Tyler Ruegsegger-Joe Colborne line has led the Pioneers in scoring all season. Heading into the series against the Huskies that line had accounted for roughly half of Denver's goals on the season. Denver enjoyed its highest goal production of the season in a WCHA series by pouring in ten goals against Tech. The aforementioned line went [2-2-4] on the weekend, and apart from Tyler Rugsegger's play, largely was held in check by Tech both nights.

What was encoraging about Denver's play was that seven different players apart from the top line scored goals for Denver. Particularly impressive was the Brandon Vossberg-Anthony Maiani-Kyle Ostrow line. Respectively those boys went [1-2-3], [1-4-5] and 2-1-3] for the weekend. On top of that the line was a combined +13 [Vossberg +5/ Maiani +4/ Ostrow +4].

Defensemen Patrick Wiercioch, Matt Donovan and Cody Brookwell all scored goals as Denver benefitted from an uncustomarily productive series from its blueline. In all, 14 different players scored at least one point for the Pioneers and 9 different players scored at least one goal. Only Maiani scored as many as two goals this weekend. As a fan, it was heartening to see that during a series in which Denver's top line was limited in its production, the remainder of the team stepped into the foreground and helped the Pioneers sweep a determined opponent. It wasn't the team's best hockey of the season. but it persevered and found a way to win both games when it wasn't playing at peak level.

There is still no word on defenseman Chris Nutini's condition. He suffered an ankle injury late in the second period, recieved help getting off the ice, did not return for the third period and was taken to the hospital for X-rays. I hope he'll be able to play next weekend on the road in Mankato, and if not hen, shortly thereafter.

In many respects Nutini is Denver's top defenseman. He plays intelligently in his defensive zone, clears traffic in front of the net, plays the body in intelligent fashion without taking ill-advised penalties and makes crisp "first passes" to help his team move the puck out of its end and into the neutral zone. He seldom makes a headline grabbing offensive play, but even less frequently does he commit a defensive gaffe leading to an opponent's goal. I hope he recovers completely and quickly.

Poor guy.

This bowler's name is Tom Smallwood.

Why is bowling on? Because i've been too lazy to get up and change the channel. The remote is a good 10 feet away! :(

Lots of Smallwoods from Saginaw, huh, Twitch? :p

Scarlet - have you seen Schaeff's blog? He started it in January, so there aren't many posts to catch up on.

Morning (or early afternoon, depending on your timezone), Enjoying watching women's arials from yesterday and working on my essays for Psych.

Well, I could see Brent, 30 years from now, sitting down on his forklift.
Is this what you meant to say? :p

Just turned on Canada vs USA women's curling to hear the announcer say "the Americans want to flip their rocks." :p

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 103: The Greatest Rep... to this point.

So I filed my taxes instead of writing an essay. I can't decide if this is a good thing or a bad.
