Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 102: Hockey Sucks!!!

Don't anyone give away the results in the events, please. I'm recording a bunch of stuff and avoiding the Olympic thread just in case.

I like bringing my own lunch, although it leaves you open for criticism on your choices. Today I'm in my office snacking on celery sticks with hummus. Kind of an appetizer. A couple of the paper machine guys wander by and ask me if I brought any "man food". I pulled out my liverwurst and onion sandwich with a big bag of Dill Pickle potato chips and asked them if "this" qualifies. :D

/no meetings this afternoon ;)

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 102: Hockey Sucks!!!

I can't lie, I have no idea what's going on, but it's fun to watch. :)
I agree!

One of my friends down here loves curling. So much he wants to try it. I told him to let me know if found someone down here who realized he was talking about a sport and not something you do to your hair.

It was probably the fact that you were knitting in your office.

I don't know how to knit. About the only thing I can do is sew on a button.

That Trojan/Skipper match up could be epic. Last time they played the 'Tonka coach said he's shocked they ended in a tie since he felt Wayzata dominated play the whole game.

Go Trojans!!!! :D

I curled a bit back in the day but just for fun. Curling was offered as a phy ed class in high school. When I was 15 years old my good friend and his father tried recruiting me to take the next step in curling. They mentioned that if I took things seriously and gave 110% they guaranteed me that success would follow. Doing that meant I would have had to quit hockey. I chose hockey. While watching them curl in the last olympics I often asked myself "what if........".

Well then go to the game. I just posted in the Minnesota high school hockey thread. Hopefully some posters decide to go. :)

Can't this Thursday :(
Go early - the last game was at the Plymouth ice center and they turned away hundreds of people at the door.

If Gonzo goes to the game look for the big guy wearing a skirt. :D :p ;)

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 102: Hockey Sucks!!!

what I really like about curling is it reminds me of rugby. Both teams are playing hard against each other and then afterwords they go out and drink. Sounds like a good time to me. :)

You would have been kicked off the team for wearing your Stars and Stripes speedo during competition anyway.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 102: Hockey Sucks!!!

The question was:

"If I was a tattoo on your body, where would I be?"
gross. Almost as bad as CHA's evil rep to me.
the answer was to where the tattoos (temporary) are located

I find curling interesting. I want to try it.
You were in Bowling Green, why didn't you go curling? I've been curling 3 times. It's fun even with a group of people that aren't very good at it.

No, women across the country would have posters in their bedroom of me standing on the podium only wearing a medal and the stars and stripes speedo. :D :p ;)

Doh!

Don't go into the curling thread that was just created.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 102: Hockey Sucks!!!

Just called into a meeting that is scheduled to last until 4:00. Ugh.
is it wrong that I am cheering when watching curling?
No! Curling is great! We watched it all the time on CBC during the NHL lockout. A group of 3 of us in the dorms ended up growing into about 15 people watching the Tournament of Hearts, packed into a dorm room, that dorm room roared after Jenny Jones' EPIC shot to win the tourney. It was awesome.

I tried it, it was tough!
Do you and/or shirtless want to go to the Wayzata @ Minnetonka game on Thursday? One ranking I saw had them as the top 2 teams in the state.
Um, yeah, I'd be interested. Sounds like it could be a great one. I'll let you know if I'll be able to make it.

Yes! I am planning on watching the US curling match when I get home from work! This goes for hockey too....

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 102: Hockey Sucks!!!

gmann: re your rep, I have him in both leagues, and early on he was awesome for me, lately he seems to have leveled off, but he's still one of the guys that I start every game. Definitely one of the guys I was able to pull from the a little lower in the draft that have been great, along with Colborne and Ben Smith from BC.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 102: Hockey Sucks!!!

Since I was late for work I'm going to leave early to make up for it.

Watching the USA hockey team >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> work

Hopefully it's a good game but it probably won't be easy especially if Switzerland is able to get the game played in the neutral zone. This would definitely play to their strength since they have a lot of experience in this area. ;) :D :p
