Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 100: This Poll Sucks
Since I really don't want to do actual work, I went to the city of Marquette's website and found their zoning laws in the city ordinances section. At one point they specifically refer to how many parking spaces fraternities/sororities need to provide per for each capacity occupant. I doubt they would bother to do that if sororities were banned. The fail is still on you.
I'm looking at the same site, and while I haven't found a limit on numbers of women, there are restrictions on "rooming houses" (which is a heading under which fraternity and sorority houses fall):
(13) Rooming Houses (RM)
a. Shall have a
manger residing on the premises.
b. Shall comply with the yard requirements for duplexes.
c. Shall be inspected and licensed on a yearly basis, in compliance with the Property Maintenance Code and the City Business license section of the City Code.
d. One off-street parking space shall be provided for each occupant and the manager.
e. No rooming house shall be located within 500 feet of another rooming house.
f. Rooming houses shall have an outdoor livability space ratio of at least 0.50.
g. Prior to application for zoning approval, the applicant shall meet with the Planning Department and is encouraged to inform the neighbors of plans for the rooming house.
h. Must be located on sites having at least 15,000 square feet and 100 feet of frontage.
So, they need to be on big lots, have a lot of parking... and need to leave their Christmas decorations up all year.
