Re: Rep Retirement #151: Stop Letting Baukin make polls!

My paternal grandfather (100% Swede) said "Hey hey" all the time.

I wonder if that's a Swedish thing or general Scandinavian thing?
It's not just a Swede thing. When I was in Europe, I noticed that a lot things get repeated. When Germans say yes, they'll often say, "Ja, ja." Italians said "Ciao, ciao" all the time. I didn't catch anything in France, but every word over in that language sounded the same to me anyway. I got the impression that a lot of single syllable words get the double treatment.

I had a party at my boss's house last night. Most of the department showed up. It's fun to see drunk boss. He's much like sober boss, but cusses a lot more. He's also really competitive in backyard games.

Greetings from da range (Chisolm) - family wedding.
Open bar last night, I figured if John Jameson had the stones to dive into the ocean after his whiskey barrel the least I could do was help drink it. :)

Good morning Lodge.

Happy Father's Day.

The g family is getting ready to go on a long bike ride and during one of our breaks we will have a picnic. Along the way we will find a place to take a dip in the lake.

Today is my Friday and then this Wednesday will also be my Friday.

Morning Lodge.

Looks like a beautiful day here after warnings all week of hot-humid-thunderstorms for today.
Uh, Goldy? Take a look at the radar. Storms are firing up like crazy to the west. I'd be amazed if we dodged all that crap through the end of the day somehow. As for heat and humidity, that will hit tomorrow and Tuesday by the looks of it.

We are gettIng ready to do some biking. Some nasty shiat just starting developing over our heads an it's heading towards cityslickerville.

This is the first (less intense) wave of it, forming along the leading edge of the warm/moist air.

The truly ugly stuff will start forming later in the afternoon. Tornadoes are a very real possibility with the strength of wind shear in the atmosphere in the SW 1/3 of the state. Once we hit the evening hours, it'll transition into a damaging wind threat due to an MCS that will likely be blasting across the state.

Re: Rep Retirement #151: Stop Letting Baukin make polls!

I love Sunday radar-watching. Should be a fun day for storm-watching; especially since my apt faces west. :D

Re: Rep Retirement #151: Stop Letting Baukin make polls!

I'm more than a little annoyed that I can't watch the final round of the US Open.

I had no idea that they were eliminated. I pay zero attention to that crap.

I know you don't, but I figured maybe some people that were around you would have mentioned it or something.

The brit that I'm working with talks about it some, but I block it out. He started a conversation about it a few days ago with another guy we're working with, a Swede, and I tactfully and quickly changed the topic of conversation to hockey, and the Swede was very happy to go that direction.

Nice. Who did Vikingstad play for? Was that Sweden? Or was that some other Scandy country?

That was Norway. They're big fans of Holmstrom, Ohlund, and Forsberg around here. Holmstrom and Ohlund are from here(this town) and Forsberg lives here now.

Rumor is Forsberg is playing there next season. They should be pumped about that.

I didn't know you stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last night. ;)

Re: Rep Retirement #151: Stop Letting Baukin make polls!

Spent the day with my dad and mom, my aunt, uncle and my cousin in the North End this afternoon. Great meal, then went to an Italian caffe and had gelato for dessert. I need to get to the North End more often. So close to where I live and on a gorgeous Sunday like today, it's a great place to send the day.

The boys going in circles are about 12 miles from me right now. A guy down the subdivision from me got his school bus out and I saw them take off for the race track the other night. This guy lives in a double-wide duplex, and this bus is about a 1970 Bluebird. He was driving it through the sub with the front door open, and sitting on the step was another stereotypical hillbilly. Trucker hat (not the stylish type, more like a Camel/Pall Mall/Brut cologne type), feathered hair, and a heater hanging out of his mouth. Oh, and a gas tank at his feet. *shakes head*
Don't you just love this time of year??

Anyways, back from lunch with Dad in Tecumseh, listening in a bit on his pity party and all that. Things will be a lot happier around here once they get everything settled and he moves out of the house finally. Should be within a month or so I hope. Anyways, back here holed up for the evening, as its going to be pretty soon there's going to be 100,000 or so coming out of MIS and a lot of them are going to be streaming down M-50 and US-12.

Got the feeling that I'm probably going to have to take a dog to the vet soon to have her put down. She's pretty old and has been getting pretty feeble, walks a bit funny, and can't quite handle going up the stairs by herself. its that first step for her, once she's on it she's good to go. And she's blind and she's got an eye infection going on in one of them.

And to top everything off here that's going on with me right now, I've got another stinkin' wax buildup in my ear. been trying to get it to loosen up, and its just not been moving.

Re: Rep Retirement #151: Stop Letting Baukin make polls!

Beautiful day here.

And for Father's Day, I spoke to my biological father on the phone. He's still got a feeding tube and a catheter, but he's making a lot of progress. Also made my stepdad pancakes and bacon. Sweet, wonderful bacon.
