Re: Rep Lodge Thread 89: As The Holidays Approach

You should like Chicago. It doesn't suck.

Ok I will consider it. Actually it is growing on me, just the job I applied for would of been in California and I could of picked where I would be living, so I was thinking San Fran.

I didnt get that job, but they liked me so much they are making a job for me in corporate, which is in Chicago (well actually in the burbs  ).

I should know more this week.

Re: Rep Lodge Thread 89: As The Holidays Approach

Why are we going to chicago? I might be moving to chicago. Please tell me it doesnt suck.

According to people from St. Louis Chicago sucks. But I wouldn't trust them.

Which reminds me of the time I got on the train in downtown St. Louis to take it to the airport. The train was totally filled with Cardinal baseball fans who were about to get off in a couple of stops at Busch Stadium. I firgured I would try to have some fun with them so when I got on I said jokingly "Would now be a good time to try to get a Let's Go Cubs chant going?". The looks I got were like how could you be so stupid to ask a question like that. Man people have a little sense of humor. :p

Meh, can't complain.
Wouldn't do any good if I did :o

Now that you're back in town, you want some eggs? ;)

This reminds me of the time a friend told me when you complain 80% of people don't care and the 20% who do care usually can't do anything about it anyway. This was probably a nice way of saying so shut up and stop complaining. :o

So the Muppet Man has too many eggs on his hands? Well I do like eggs.

Maybe you could use the extra eggs to get back at anybody who is bothering you. ;) :p Good luck with what ever it is you're not going to complain about. :)

In St. Louis the local casino runs radio ads that say they have the loosest slots in the country. Everytime I heard this I would chuckle inside thinking I thought Northern girls had the loosest slots in the country. ;) :p

Re: Rep Lodge Thread 89: As The Holidays Approach

The only thing that kind of sucks is O'Hare. Chicago is an awesome city.

Hi, WINGER!!! Details on the impending possible move?

Still waiting to find out. In my mind nothing is in stone until I see and offer letter.

But it seems likely I will be moving to chicago to work with a global transportation company doing business development stuff. I was hoping to be the BD director for the CA market, lots of travel, but I got beat out by some ridicilously qualified dude.

But they really liked me and are in the process of making a postion for me at corporate. It is a small corporate office partly because there are people spread all over the country (and world really) working for these guys. The advantage of working at corporate is I would be working with (and getting face time) with all the executive VP of each division, and when the corporate people from france come in, I will also get great face time. So that will increase my chances of getting to go to paris (or some place else) for a couple of years for a job assignment. Which is something the company continues to do, take best practices in transportation between north american and europe and swap some of the human resources. They also have some projects in china, but i am more interested in europe.

That is about all I know now. Unfortuantly the corporate headquarters I would be working at is in the suburbs, I did find what looks to be a nice apartment only two miles away, so I could walk and bike to work, which will generate some of the benfits I was looking for working in a city. And I just found a CSA that will deliver my weekly farm share to my door, and I get to work from home two days a week.

So yeah while I was initially bummed it wasnt San Fran, there are alot of benfits. Althought it looks like my womens hockey options were better in CA than in the Chicago area, so maybe I will just play with mens teams. I just feel like I am too young to be giving up my friday and sat nights to hockey (as much as I love to play). I really like my league now with sunday night games and a ton of teams, and about 36 games a year.

Do you really want to live in an area where I've helped design two major projects? Be afraid be very afraid. :D

In all seriousness it sounds like a great opportunity. Good Luck

Thanks, it seems like a really great opportunity, with a really great company.

As for the road projects, you know I am a mass transit girl anyways. :)
(Oh wait you did do a light rail project....aggghhh). I don't know if they plan on bidding on and design/build/operate projects in the future, wouldnt it be funny if we ended up working on something together.

Oh and your company called me to, I might have a job opportunity with them as well. :-P

Re: Rep Lodge Thread 89: As The Holidays Approach

ok back to work for me, where i will proably forget to come back on here for another 2 months.
See ya all later!

Especially if on the first day I yelled at you "Down with Pants" I bet that would get some strange looks from coworkers.

Oh and your company called me to, I might have a job opportunity with them as well. :-P

Actually they came to me asking about you. I told them I don't really know much about her other then she hates pants. You can thank me later. :D

Just kidding.

Hopefully you didn't get bad news the night before the interview causing you to say some interesting things. ;)

It's nice to have options so hopefully you get offered both jobs. :)

Detroit sucks enough to make it windy in Chicago. In fact Detroit is the black hole of hopes and dreams.
