Still waiting to find out. In my mind nothing is in stone until I see and offer letter.
But it seems likely I will be moving to chicago to work with a global transportation company doing business development stuff. I was hoping to be the BD director for the CA market, lots of travel, but I got beat out by some ridicilously qualified dude.
But they really liked me and are in the process of making a postion for me at corporate. It is a small corporate office partly because there are people spread all over the country (and world really) working for these guys. The advantage of working at corporate is I would be working with (and getting face time) with all the executive VP of each division, and when the corporate people from france come in, I will also get great face time. So that will increase my chances of getting to go to paris (or some place else) for a couple of years for a job assignment. Which is something the company continues to do, take best practices in transportation between north american and europe and swap some of the human resources. They also have some projects in china, but i am more interested in europe.
That is about all I know now. Unfortuantly the corporate headquarters I would be working at is in the suburbs, I did find what looks to be a nice apartment only two miles away, so I could walk and bike to work, which will generate some of the benfits I was looking for working in a city. And I just found a CSA that will deliver my weekly farm share to my door, and I get to work from home two days a week.
So yeah while I was initially bummed it wasnt San Fran, there are alot of benfits. Althought it looks like my womens hockey options were better in CA than in the Chicago area, so maybe I will just play with mens teams. I just feel like I am too young to be giving up my friday and sat nights to hockey (as much as I love to play). I really like my league now with sunday night games and a ton of teams, and about 36 games a year.
