Re: Rep Lodge 80: In a row?

Morning Lodge

Feel like crap. I hate summer colds.

For your sake, I hope it isn't the same *tty illness I've had. Very possibly the H1N1 piggy flu  Took one more sick day, because my body isn't quite cooperating with me... maybe I'll go in later on if I feel consistently better.

brent, I'll be able to make it to the BWW tonight, but I think I'm only in for wings and sports, no drinking tonight:(
Well, you'll be alone. We'll be at Old Chicago. :p (it's in the same strip mall)
Oh, dam, my bad. I knew that, not sure why I said BWW:p
OC sounds better than BWW does right now...

Still in for this though ;) Also not much in the way of drinking, but one or two beers perhaps.

Morning, Lodge. Otherwise an uninteresting day, but at least if I get plenty of rest and kick this flu, I get to go back to the UP on Thursday :D

Hope you feel better soon.

If you end up staying home all day, let me know, we could carpool there, since we don't live too far away from each other.

Re: Rep Lodge 80: In a row?

Hi, kids! Back from a great wedding, however, the car died on the way back. I'm talking D-E-D. So, :( (for the record, if you have a consecutive "c" and "a" in your name you may want to stay away from me: car, cat... :o ).

Back at the office and working on the insanity. It's as bad as I feared, but not worse, which is good, I suppose.

Moved most of my stuff into the new apartment on Saturday (before driving to NY on Sunday for the wedding). Just have to pack up the kitchen and my clothes. Luckily, my mom is coming up this weekend with her car.

Let's see...no C's at all in my real name, no A's in my screen name (and no C's in my AIM name). Woo-hoo! I get to be near you!

Does the "Cash for Clunkers" program require that the car be running for you to turn it in?

It requires that the car have an engine. :o

So, a surgeon *'d up yesterday and hit an artery during a procedure. That led to the transfusion of over 100 units of blood products (thankfully most of the carnage was on dayshift, though I issued 10 on mine as well). Incredibly, they had to issue over 30 units of uncrossmatched blood.

Huhhuhhuh, you said "unit".

Seriously though... a unit is a pint, no? As in, 100 pints meaning 50 quarts meaning 12 1/2 gallons of blood?? For the same patient???

Re: Rep Lodge 80: In a row?

Good morning, Lodge.

Good news/bad news:
Good news - I just found out yesterday that I am getting promoted!
Bad news - Due to my work schedule, I am unable to have a beer until Thursday night.

So I am counting on all of you. Nunc est bibendum (Now we must drink.)
Congrats, WTW!

You need to have a Tide Stick :)
Yes. I always carry one with me.

Hi!

Drunk, night. Drunk tonight, tomorow, the next night, and the night after... I'm drinking a beer for every one of you tomorrow night in honor of my birthday. And yes, if you think this is typed too well (one typo: tomorrow) I've definitely drank way too much tonight, especially considering the next couple nights are celebratory as well.
Happy birthday!

Good morning, Lodge!

Got back from a 6 mile run this morning, only to discover that the bathroom ceiling had caved in. Thankfully, no one was in there when it happened, and based on the size of the hole above the toilet, repairs shouldn't cost too much.

:p sorry...
So they can promptly destroy it:mad:
Yeah -- I think that an engine is a requirement, now I have to double check.
Edit -- the car must be in drivable condition. The timing belt broke and smashed the pistons, so it's not technically in drivable condition, I don't think.

Yeah, the engine has to run so that they can kill it - apparently there are specific requirements as to how this is to be done, and it involves running the engine with the oil replaced by a sodium silicate solution.

I think you should still call some dealerships and see if they can bend the rules for you. You're in Mass - there's gotta be a few dealers with enough ties to corrupt politicians that they can work around the "drivable" stipulation. (And yes, I am being serious here (well, not necessarily about the corruption, but about calling dealerships).)

Volumes on the products are given in metric units. A bag of packed red cells is a little over 300 ml, so 10 units of prbcs = 3L.

Note that I said over 100 units of blood products. That means we were giving a combination of packed red cells, plasma, and platelets. IIRC, the official tally for packed red cells was nearly 40 units, or about 12L.

And yes 'ewe, the emergency release was all in a row. Typically the OR wants us to stay 4 ahead. In this case, it was 10, which is insane. Assuming endless transfusion of type specific blood, staying 10 ahead represents roughly 1/4 of our inventory for a given type.

I think this is just a cold. No fever. I'm sniffling and achy. I mild cough. I haven't had a cold in years. Oh well. It is what it is.
That OC is ~2 miles from where I live. We quit going there because of all the little kids. I suppose it's not an issue in the bar.

I love engines too much, its painful to think of perfectly good ones getting destroyed.

It's true. Though, there's plenty of engines that wouldn't count as "perfectly good" either... can you really call a GM Iron Duke inline 4 a perfectly good engine for anything? :p

Yikes. You might be able to skate by at some dealers, who knows, but otherwise it's the scrapper, or a transplanted engine. :(

Still - Jesus H. but that's a lot of blood product. 3 gallons of packed red blood cells?? Did the surgeon just go Freddy Krueger on his patient?
