Re: Rep Lodge 80: In a row?

Are you sore yet?

Not bad yet. Low back is a little achy, right ankle (the arthritic one) was hurting while I was skating, but not bad since, knees are a little sore. Myneck is always sore after playing. I think I must hold my head at a bad angle to see through the cage - I should maybe try a shield.

FYP. ;) :p

Re: Rep Lodge 80: In a row?

Volumes on the products are given in metric units. A bag of packed red cells is a little over 300 ml, so 10 units of prbcs = 3L.

Note that I said over 100 units of blood products. That means we were giving a combination of packed red cells, plasma, and platelets. IIRC, the official tally for packed red cells was nearly 40 units, or about 12L.

And yes 'ewe, the emergency release was all in a row. Typically the OR wants us to stay 4 ahead. In this case, it was 10, which is insane. Assuming endless transfusion of type specific blood, staying 10 ahead represents roughly 1/4 of our inventory for a given type.

I don't know the specifics of this case, but my guess is they hit an artery.
Artery as in highway artery:eek: That is a crud load of blood. Talk about flushing the system.
I'll just stick with the little blue pill - Aleve. :p
I thought the little blue pill was Viagra....

and why did no one else catch this???

Re: Rep Lodge 80: In a row?

Ha. I think that title would have worked better for RRL 37, but that's just me. ;)
No, it's probably everyone else too...

Huhhuhhuh, you said "unit".

Seriously though... a unit is a pint, no? As in, 100 pints meaning 50 quarts meaning 12 1/2 gallons of blood?? For the same patient???
Nicking an artery is kind of a big deal...like Ron Burgundy big...
Is tonight a go or what?
Sounds like it...

Your wife tells you it's Aleve, huh?:p

Whatever works. ;)

So, have you taken the little blue pill *ahem* "Aleve" before you hit the ice? If so, do you get called for high sticking often? (if you know what I mean) :p :)

It seems my coworker is not a fan of brutal honesty.

I have this "problem" where I tell things like they are. I don't see the purpose in sugar coating information.

Anyway the idiot coworker now hates me and thinks I'm evil.

The radio ads may make me want to drive an ice pick into each ear, but they are effective.

Yup -- looked it up online today. Unfortunately, I have to go back to Firestone and bring the title and take the plates.
*sigh* Hoping my zipcar application gets processed quickly because it's a hell of a trek otherwise.

Also boarding. But if it's a mens league, dear Parise I hope there's no "hitting from behind".

And just hope that no one get called for "holding the stick".

In other news "netspeak" must be stopped. "Kewl" is one thing, but "gewd"? It's not even pronounced that way. I can understand some of it being done to conserve space (especially when texting), but if the word you're using has the same number of characters, what's the point?

Gewd sounds like something that happens to your hand after holding the stick.
