Re: Rep Lodge 80: In a row?
I bought a new All-In-One printer last month and hooked it up via a USB cable. It worked fine. A few days later I realized that I could have hooked it up via my router and then my notebook computer could access it also.
For reasons that I won't try to explain, I decided to hook it up using a wired connection instead of wireless although I could do it either way. So I needed a cable which I bought on the way home from the doctor today. The first problem was opening the packaging that came with the cable, and the result was a cut finger.
Now the printer instructions came with a special section dealing with changing from a USB connection to a network connection, so I figured it would be easy. I successfully got it to print a test page

, but then a message came up that said that the scanning function wasn't working

, and I should reboot and reinstall the software. That sounded easy enough. I rebooted and the scanning error problem came up again. When I tried to do install the software it claimed it was already installed.

(But it indeed could not scan.)
All I could think of was to uninstall everything and start over. It seems to work now.
That was fun. Not.
Do people about half my age have an easier time with this sort of thing?
