Re: Rep Lodge 126: Merry ****ing Festivus!!!!

Is it just the strong drinks that makes people go there or what? It seems like strong incentive.

Mostly, it has to do with the fact that it's not the DT; not everyone is into pitchers and crappy music. Also, the bartenders there are more knowledgeable.

I will admit the DT has changed since I was first there. Not as personable. The Dog? Everyone's cool with each other. It's how the DT used to be, from what I remember.

Eh, I've always thought the DT was the preppy bar, and the Dog was the relaxed one. I think our groups just tend to chase away the dooshy ones, lol.

Re: Rep Lodge 126: Merry ****ing Festivus!!!!

Well I did lie a little bit. I went into the office today. Every day until end of the year we are doing something special for the employees. Today it was a half hour massage. Not to shabby for half an hour and being fully dressed. Tomorrow, I have to go in for a bit as we are delivering chamber bucks to each employee (gift cards that can be spent at local business)

A half hour?? Bah!!! hardly enough time to even get relaxed. And it was probably in a chair too. :p :p

A half hour chair massage might be ok for the rest of the poo-flinging monkey's there at the office, but for you, get at least an hour on the table. one were you get undressed and can relax on a table.

I will say that a 30-minute massage does a body good. And I would bet dollars to donuts that I'm a massuesses best/worst case scenario. Constant knots in my shoulders/back/etc and some days 5 minutes is too much, and an hour is too little.

Five minutes is hardly enough to get those trigger points out hoven. Stop seeing those fluff and buffers and go find somebody that can do some real work on you.

I have. :P No fluff and buffers here. I'm just kind of a freak of nature (insert peanut gallery comment here). ;)

I have to say, though, I think the Dog has become my favorite Houghton drinking establishment.

You have good taste

I have to admit that I was impressed by the Dog. Granted, I was with a couple regulars, so there were some drinking benefits I was afforded, but still. The KBC is still a great laid-back/starter bar, for sure. The early closing time helps that fact, also.

Yes going with regulars has it's benefits ;) like getting a fishbowl even though they're "out", I can get a bartender in the Dog to wash a glass for me, just to make one drink....it's called loyalty

The Dogs strong drinks are always a winner. Too good...

Always, I have never had a complaint about any drink I've ordered there....and I've ordered a lot....

I know for my 7&7 fishbowls, they added 7up for "coloring." And they were about 1/2 the price of the Ambo. Even the next morning (okay, afternoon) when I ordered an Irish coffee, I had to specify to not make it "Tech Strong." ;)

Yup, just like with a Whiskey Sour, the Squirt is added at the end to make it not so whiskey colored haha

Is it just the strong drinks that makes people go there or what? It seems like strong incentive.

Strong drinks and cheap prices, with an average fishbowl you get 3-4 shots of liquor, and it's $4, so with a $1 tip, you're still doing better than any bar I can think of

Also, the bartenders there are more knowledgeable.

Almost 100% true, couple of the newer bartenders (nods towards the Tundra Wookie) still have some things to learn

But yes, the Dog is a great place to drink, I know for Minnesota weekend, I "bought" Biddco a drink, but when you're a "fairly" (trying not to sound like the alcoholic I'm becoming) regular customer, and the bartender knows you're "buying" a drink for someone, it seems more often than not it doesn't get marked on the tab....

Like tonight, I had 3 fishbowls and 4 jager bombs, from the total, I could see I was only charged for 2 fishbowls and 3 jager bombs....obviously the bartender gets a decent tip cause I tip for the drinks they made me, not the final total at the end of the slip

wow, that was a long post

night Lodge, first time getting sleep in over 42 hours

Color me unimpresed when the bartender takes out a shot glass to measure. Some of the weakest drinks I've ever had until the bartender figured out I'd met her through bbdl's sister this summer.

Explain how Yager is still around then...:D

What he means to say is stop finding them on craigslist.

Try having fixed tabs at 3 different bars of $10.50, $9.75, and $0. And those aren't even the El Roco where I was a daily regular...
