Re: Rep Lodge 125: The Thanksgiving Dinner Version: Gimme Some More...

Good morning, Lodge! Lots of papers to grade before the Thanksgiving Break, and let me tell you, grading essays can make one doubt his worth as a teacher. Here are some of my favorite bits from last semester:

...succumbence to the attack...
...freeing the Communist states under the Iron Current.
...the costs of losing the war were more than the benefits.
In conclusion, the South would have won the war if the North would not have prevailed.
By swiftly defeating the Russians the Germans could have quickly acquired Laban's Realm in the East.

I'm pretty that last kid meant Lebensraum.

Everyone have a goood Friday!
You should post those on the door of your office as examples of what not to do.

Re: Rep Lodge 125: The Thanksgiving Dinner Version: Gimme Some More...

Good morning Lodge. Got up, made corn muffins, already did a load of laundry. Need to go pick up some dry cleaning and get some wrapping paper and a card for a baby gift. Then I have a couple of hours of work to do. It's kinda grey out. And I'm sure it's chilly. Put my heat on for the first time.

Re: Rep Lodge 125: The Thanksgiving Dinner Version: Gimme Some More...

What is funny is that the Midget's old house is next door. Ah, the memories of the snowbank toss, the Dirty toss, and the Geist Death Hill Wipeout (which MNS recreated last night, unintentionally).

I was wearing Docs and I was drunk. Bad combo, man.

Morning Lodge. In Greensboro for a 6 day stretch of reserve, but so far so good. Yesterday I did an 8 mile run at a really solid clip, showing that my training for this 1/2 marathon is paying off. Combine that with I should be able to watch college football today and listen to the game tonight, along with the Sioux winning last night, and this dude is happy for the most part. Greensboro sucks, but I'll get through this.

And Brent, I don't care how easy Yoopers think that loop is to navigate. It sucks. Blow it up.

Then you get ol' Toivo Koskineimihaakkiillaainen who has lived in Houghton his entire life and still can't navigate the farking thing, an Asian exchange student in a H2 who has had his driver's licence for exactly 6 seconds and doesn't know where he's going, and a logging truck going about 12 MPH trying to get through... and I want to start killing things.
The Hancock side blows, too. It is farking impossible to make the left turn off of M-26 and on to the bridge. I should not have to sit in the left turn lane for 15 minutes in a town of less than 6,000. It should also not be quicker to cut up to Calumet from Lake Linden and come back down that way, but it is.

'divaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!! Hi!

Hi!! :)

Like everyone else who frequents this site on a regular basis, I too, have experienced frustrations during the period in which changes were made to USCHO. As a result of e-mail contact with someone in a position to know, I am in receipt of some information regarding the changes which have been made to the site. Before I pass along that information elsewhere in this post, I think it behooves everyone to understand that USCHO is working on a limited budget and with what may fairly and accurately be described as a skeletal staff. This site is far more "a labor of love" than it is a money-making-venture.

Is the site perfect in its present form? Perhaps not. Speaking only for myself, I choose to applaud the ongoing efforts of USCHO to provide timely information about many facets of college hockey I, and others, enjoy. It may be there are aspects of the format, content or site operation that visitors don't like. Please take a moment to consider the stark alternative of USCHO's choosing to cease operation rather than electing to introduce upgrades as time and money allows.

I'm glad the site exists and chooses to persevere in the face of adverse shortages of manpower and capital.

Here is some information, in italics, regarding the changes which have been made to USCHO in recent weeks/months.

===>Last weekend we increased the memory in our server and improved the network connectivity. It made a big difference on Saturday. We've also placed an order for a brand new server that is far more powerful than what we have and should handle the load without breaking a sweat. It will have three times the memory and a processor that's about 20x the speed of what we have now. That's huge. Had we had the higher capacity server from the start, all this hassle could have been avoided. But that is water under the bridge. The network speed increase applies to the Fan Forum as well. Our traffic continues to increase each year. We're on a pace on the main site to serve 100 million pages this year.

We really have needed to upgrade for a couple of years, but 2008 and 2009 were terrible years for internet advertising and we just couldn't afford the investment.

People get the idea we have this large staff, but nobody is full-time and our annual editorial budget probably would be the starting salary for a junior reporter on a small town paper. And that's after increasing it substantially this year.

Leave it to you to bring reason & logic to the discussion. Sheesh. :D

8 pints of beer last night and no hangover? Maybe there is a god.

Re: Rep Lodge 125: The Thanksgiving Dinner Version: Gimme Some More...

Slept 11 hours thanks to my buddy advil pm, could have slept longer too. Unfortunately, now I'll be groggy most of the day.

Re: Rep Lodge 125: The Thanksgiving Dinner Version: Gimme Some More...

Deep fried fries at 3am rule. Just sayin'.

Snowing here. Getting ready to go eat a good burger, fill up some growlers of fresh beer, and gotta tailgate with the Gopher crew. Today is gonna be a good day.

And yes, * the YLPOSAI.
