Dreadful may be a bit much. I don't think Bill Pitdo would be too familiar with BU or Cornell players and he usually doesnt do play by play. He is a studio guy on NHL Live, so he does know hockey. But on the other hand you have Billy Jaffe who played college hockey and sounds OK. He did color for the Islanders, works on NHL on the Fly on NHL network, and also fills in on NHL Live. He is a very knowledgeable hockey person.

College hockey is being played in the "worlds most famous arena" and is on their (MSG) network. The game of college hockey is getting exposure. Be happy its on TV. Who would you like to call the game? Geez.:rolleyes:

So can someone explain the no goal call I was at a bar and didn't hear the announcers. It seemed that the initial call was based off the ref assuming the puck hit the net and bounced back? I also noticed that the refs where a HE crew any complaints about them besides that call?

The whistle had already blown before the puck went off Millan's back and into the net. The MSG replay was very clear about that.

I have no idea where the puck was for those 2-3 seconds where it was invisible, but I assume it was up and out of play anyway.

thanks for pointing that out, was able to catch the game. The Terriers were getting manhandled at several points in the game...Kieran was very good. It was the right call on the no goal. Reminded me of those youtube videos of guys hitting basketball shots ...you see the shot and you see it go in the net but you have no idea what happened in the middle. Somebody in attendance should be able to say if it hit the net. The ref pointed at the netting, for what that is worth.

BUnyon pointed at the net, but he never looked up so it was a guess. Those nets are not pulled tight so I will state with 99% confidence that the puck didn't hit the net (and still have enough momentum to come back into play the 10+ feet to clear the crossbar.

I'll take it though :p

Where the heck was the puck then if not in the netting? It was missing for a good two or three seconds. Parker was right that the refs would have been correct to blow the whistle simply on the basis of not being able to see the puck for such an extended period of time.

They blew the whistle. I heard it. So did the teams as they were either skating to the face off circle or back to the bench. Then the puck fell from the rafters about five minutes later (it seemed) and banked off Millan and went in. Doesn't matter if it didn't hit the netting or whatever. Play was called dead.

You know what's weird? The first part of that replay made it seem like the puck deflected over the net backwards. I wonder if it went back, up, then down.

Hit the glass and went up in the air, before falling back to earth...

The discussion of the trajectory of that puck is beginning to sound like the discussion of the "magic bullet" from Dallas 11/22/63.

We've all been on enough rinks to see the puck hit the net above the glass and drop straight down. Never will it richocet back 10+ ft onto the ice.
